| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 20, 2009 Pours a big white head. Smells almost sharply like bubblegum, clovey-spices. Color of a classic abbey tripel, yellowish-gold with a hazy center. Taste is indeed robust, a linear crescendo of flavor, crisp and spicy with a sweet aftertaste where alcohol is not present but definitely noticed soon after each sip. The feel of this beer in your mouth is great. I’ll venture to say I like it better than trois pistoles. vacantskies (83), Spokane, Washington, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 19, 2009 750 ml bottle that I received as a gift. Pours a hazy gold with quite a few floaties. There is a large white head that lasted through through three-quarters of the glass and left large patches of lace. Pleasant aroma of lemon, yeast and just a bit of spice. The flavor is lemon, yeast, spice and some candi sugar. Dries out just a bit as it approaches the finish. Lively on the palate. I was frankly surprised to see that I hadn’t rated this before now, as I’ve had this several times. Bella68 (38), Alabama, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jan 16, 2009 Updated: Jan 17, 2009Violent start on a beer that looks innocent enough. You are immediately bombarded with spices and flavors of unmistakable anise/licorice. But, much like whiskey, the more you let it permeate your palate, the more you can enjoy the subtleties behind the fumes. A fun beer to enjoy on it’s own, cleanse your palate before downing something else- this will stay with you. PKPMarine (32), San Diego, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 14, 2009 Pours golden and hazy with lots of foamy head. Considerable amount of lacing. Strong citrus and yeast smell reminiscent of a weiss beer. Complex, sweet flavor that’s well balanced with subtle spiciness. EatsTacos (13), , Yukon, Canada
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 14, 2009 Pours a golden yellow with a two finger head with some spidery lacing on the glass. Drank out of a wine glass.
Aroma is very much like a belgian strong pale ale. The yeast and alcohol can be detected and the malt smells very sugary.
The taste is a lot of sweet, sugary malt balanced well with a spicey hop flavour. Interesting flavour and pretty complex while being smooth and highly drinkable. The alcohol is well hidden but the yeast flavour is definately there.
Great mouthfeel, smooth with a crisp carbonation. Medium bodied. Very nicely done.
Very drinkable, and highly recommended if you’re into Belgian strong ales.
