Sweet flavours dominated by sugar, peach, pepper and yeast. It’s refreshing and powerful. A nice tripel. Sparky27 (1592), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 18, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a hazy honey color with one finger creamy head. Nose is cloves, yeast and fruit bubblegum. Taste is tangy citrus, spicy Belgian yeast and a souring finish that fades into sweet fruits again. Medium mouth feel. An easier drinker but quite warming at 9%. Shane087 (26), Jacksonville, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 18, 2008 Golden wheat color with little head. Very malty and bitter. Strong flavor of cloves and coriander. Velvety feel on the tongue. Alcohol is slightly noticable. Taste definitely improved as it warmed. LordCorkscrew (961), Ronco Scrivia (GE), Italy
Wheat beer tendencies for sure. Definitely had better beers from Unibroue. The triple fermentation is impressive, but there’s something weird going on here that doesn’t agree, aight? | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 15, 2008 Corked 750ml bottle, lightly chilled. Very clean, lively, viscous-looking golden body with small dense creamy white head. Yeasty aroma; plenty of spice, clove and coriander among others, ripe apricots and pear, hay-like with a distinct sweet bread character, alcohol is slightly noticable. Lively carbonation, creamy texture, syrup-like consistency adding overall sweetness, warming on the way down. Plenty of spicy fruit complexity on the body; dried fruits, pepper, coriander seed, cinnamon bread (donut?), really ripe banana, cereal wheat, alcohol on the finish...i could probably keep on going on with comparisons, but you get the idea. Finish is slightly dry, a hint of bitterness and somewhat very well balanced. Really liked this one, for all of the right reasons, and I was reluctant to leave it to age, also for the right reasons it seems! JCB (1760), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 14, 2008 750ml from Total Wine, Durham. Still my favorite of the Unibroue beers. But funny, I’ve never thought of this as a tripel at all; it still seems more like a Belgian strong of their usual variety, with tastes of darker fruits and esters coming through. True, the body is nicely light and lively, and there’s a crisp, easy-drinking finish here. More of a hybrid, then. But it remains a delightful brew. TheGent (149), , Massachusetts, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Aug 13, 2008 What I would call one of the defining offerings from this brewery. Pour was like a thick cider but held an impressive head. Taste was of sweet fruit to the point of almost being syrupy. Definite alcohol notes rounded that out though. What really sets this apart is the sharp carbonation along with a fluffy palate. Finally something good I can say about Canada.
