Bottle. Pours a cola-like color, with a tan head. fizzy. Aroma is very sweet - grapes, and chocolate, but the taste is kind of bitter. black licorice and alcohol. Dark malts. medium body, thin feel, not much on the palate. Not a bad beer. I bought it just cause it was called "terrible", it’s anything but.

Dark Brown in color. Sweet and extremely rich of flavor. Other than the richness, I was looking for something else to stand out in flavor. It was very smooth but just seemed to be lacking in complexity. Very good but not great.

Dark brown body, with a light brown head, sweet aroma and flavor, but not overpoweringly so. A little on the anise flavor, very well-balanced, and a warm companion on a cold day.

Bottle with da boys. Vintage 2004. Pours a clearish dark brown. Quite sweet with mellow caramel aromas. Aromas of dried fruits. Quite sugary. High carbonation. Medium to full bodied.

Bottle with Butters and sixfootsix. Pours a tan head with a very dark brown body. Smells of anise, clove, yeast, and some chocolate. Tastes of yeast, lightly roasted, chocolate, apple, and a hint of tin. Doesn’t sound good but it was delicious.

Bottle split with Barrios courtesy of sixfootsix. Pours a magnificent near black with large sustainable off-white head. Nose is a near perfect blend of black licorice and alcohol. Anise, raisin, dark malts, cordials, and tons of alcohol. This bottle definitely had mellowed some, but there is still a lot of heat. Awesome name for an awesome beer.
