Bottle split with Barrios courtesy of sixfootsix. Pours a magnificent near black with large sustainable off-white head. Nose is a near perfect blend of black licorice and alcohol. Anise, raisin, dark malts, cordials, and tons of alcohol. This bottle definitely had mellowed some, but there is still a lot of heat. Awesome name for an awesome beer.

Very dark opaque brown pour with a thick off-white head. Aromas of Belgian yeast and dark fruit. Flavor is dark fruit (figs, perhaps) with some black licorice and a liberal dose of alcohol. Fruity, sharply bittersweet. Very good.

bottle BB 2-26-2012

yellowy tinted dark woody brown with a huge fluffy beige head. it leaves behind an enormous amount of spotty lacing... almost unreal! very fruity aroma though i can’t attempt to single one particular smell out... vanilla, chocolate, cinnamon, rich earthy yeast and it’s bitterness and something like a nicely oxidized white burgundy. there’s more fruit in the flavor along with hints of vanilla, raisins, chocolate cream, flowers, brown sugar-y malt, yeast and light warm spice on the finish. the body is medium. relatively thin mouth feel given the abv% and the amount of flavor packed in but it’s quite smooth.

no sign of the of the alcohol! incredibly easy to finish the bottle! 8/4.5/8/3.5/17/4.1

Sweetness. Huge thanks to Keith, kp, for bringing this. Another beer I’ve been wanting to try, but I have been to cheap and had too many other beers I’ve been trying to taste first. Black tan med/small bubble head. Sweetish. A hint of caramel. Some malty hints in the aroma. Pretty nice. I wish I had some cheese to eat with this.

pours with a vibrant head but after pouring, a dark prune head. The aroma is of dark fruit spices with a blended dark cherry and traditional spices.

Sampled at St Pete Creative Loafing Beerfest. Definitely in the Belgian Strong Ale style. Lots of pitted fruits and slightly spicy.

bomber from grape and gourmet, poured into a snifter. pours a very dark ruby color with a bright white head and great lacing. aroma was excellent. very bright with cherries, plums, raisons, and some sweetness. i can best describe the flavor as gourmet cherry cola. hints of chocolate, brown sugar, and a slight hint of alcohol come through as well. very lively mouthfeel with good carbonation. an excellent and unique beer.
