750ml Bottle: Aroma is sweet and vinous. Smells of dark ripe fruits, raisins, grapes, slight tobacco, yeast, and an unidentified spice. Poured dark brown with a hint of red in color and a small, fizzy, brown head that disappeared quickly but was reconstituted as a small film by the carbonation. Cloudy. Very sparkling. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of dark ripe fruits, raisins, grapes, yeast, tar, tobacco, Madeira, and wood. Medium to full body. Thick, tingly, coating texture. Lively carbonation. Woody, tar and resin, lightly dry finish. Much more drinkable than many of the Unibroue brews I have had.

Bottled 75cl. It pours a very dark beer with an average beige head. The nose has all the typical Unibroue characteristics. Yeasty. A bit metallic. Vitamin tablets, berries, mince pies and oak showing up. The taste is a bit dissapointing. Slightly sour with hints of ’le parfait’. Very fruity with vitamin tablets, cherries, wood, nutmeg and pumpernickel appearing. Full bodied. Some lacework. The alcohol is quite present. Some coffee, fruits and fish?! in the finish. Not all that good. Additional comment: A lot of cork in the nose. Strange yeasty finish. Overly sweet. A lot of crystal sugar added to this beer probably. Definetely dissapointing. My rating stays at 3.1

750 ml bottle shared at a beer tasting / monopoly game with my girlfriend and close friends. Poured a nice dark brown murky hazed hue with a nice light brown/tannish head that sticks around, in a decent amount. Aromas are chocolate and dark fruits, more somber belgian yeastiness. Taste is similar up front, mixing chocolate and sweetness into darker, dried fruits. My friend caught hints of coffee, but I did not. Raisins and plums mixed with the subtle cocoa. Yum. A nice bit of a bitter finish that has died a bit with aging. Still, a very yummy brew.

750 mL bottle. Pours a cloudy, deep ruby with a generous, dark tan head. Lively carbonation. Nose is strong on the alcohol and yeast with additions of raisins, black cherries, and raspberry. Taste is a cataclysm of different flavors: dark fruits, Belgian candies, sweet malt, yeast, spices. Finish is quick, dry, and hoppy. Another top notch Unibroue creation.

[Bottle] Pours a deep hazy gold with a large tan head of large bubbles. Aroma is alcohol and raisins with some candi sugar sweetness as well. Flavor matches. Sharp, well carbonated palate.

2003: Slight fruit aroma. All berries and sugar sweetness. Strawberries, raspberries, elder, cherry, blue, black, and some apple. Pours a dark cola brown, patchy head. Candy fruit flavor, actually more like a liquor fruit flavor. Fruit preserve:strawberry jam. Palate is sharp with fruit and caramel.

Pours a dark, dark brown with a tan head. NOT what I expected from Unibroue!! Aroma of wine, earth, plum and grapes. Flavor is a jumble of varied things, which include but are not limited to chocolate, cherry, dates, and malt. All of this complemented by the trademark Unibroue prickly carbonation. La Terrible finishes spicy with cinnamon, and with more than a tickle of alcohol to let you know it isn’t screwing around.
