Cavie (1299), Fort Worth, Texas, USA Sep 6, 2009 Bottle courtesy of Fratto. Dark dark rouge pour. Aroma is sweet upfront with heavy notes. Also has sour notes of vinegar. Has small sweet tastes with soured malts. I was rather disappointed in this. Meh. ManvsCity (88), Redmond, Washington, USA Sep 6, 2009 Bomber, corked & caged, from 2002, thanks brother-in-law John. Zero pop from the cork, and minimal head, but there is some decent self carbonation in the body. Rich aroma similar to a Flemmish red blended with toasty caramel. Nice lacing when you swirl the glass. Oak, dark fruits, malt, floral hops, smoke. Finishes a bit dry. Nice Belgian style dark ale. BVery (444), Burnsville, Minnesota, USA Sep 4, 2009 TAP: jet black pour, medium head. Dark fruit nose. Malt, fruit on taste, some molasses. petematte46 (212), Dallas, Texas, USA Sep 1, 2009 Dark, ruby brown; linkering small amber head. Rich, nutty caramel aroma. Big flavor of dark roasted malts, molassas, carob, pepper, poppy seeds, alcohol, prunes and kumquat with a lingering aftertaste of smoke NewGuardian (7), Texas, USA does not count Aug 31, 2009 This is my favorite of all the unibroue’s I have tried. Love the look, smell, taste, and attitude of this one. trapez (766), Hilleroed, Denmark Aug 29, 2009 Bottle. Very aromatic with licorice, roasted malt, chocolate and cherries. Very dark brown colour with soft beige head. Sweet flavour with English licorice and alcohol.. I somehow understand the name of the brew - its a nasty thing just like candy. You just want more of it. amckee (11), Plano, Texas, USA Aug 22, 2009 I’m beginning to think that Unibroue’s beers are generally over carbonated. Carbonation aside, this is a very tasty beer that packs a dangerous punch. towerjac (25), Lansing, Michigan, USA Aug 22, 2009 Pours very dark brown with a thick foamy tan head. Strong dark fruit and sweet malty candy flavor.
