stison42 (318), Blacksburg, Virginia, USA May 19, 2007 Black with a brown head that disapears quickly. Rather fruity aroma. Fruity raisony taste that is creamy and not too strong. Smooth. Taste is on the sides of the tongue and lasts just long enough. Fun to drink. patrick767 (2016), fort wayne, Indiana, USA May 16, 2007 2004 bottle - Pours almost black with a moderate sized head of large carbonation bubbles that quickly fade away. The aroma is mainly of yeast and dark fruit. The flavor is sweet malts with plenty of dark fruit. High carbonation lends a lively mouthfeel to this medium to full bodied brew. The 10.5% abv is buried and at 3 years on, the beer is still doing very well. I expect it could hold up well for quite some time to come. Theis (3617), Denmark May 16, 2007 Bottle at Københavnske Øldage 2007. Black - offwhite head. Licorice, yeasty, berries, sweetness, dirt, brown sugar, smooth, roasted. Alcho-burn. Typical belgian style !! Grovlam (3790), Copenhagen, Denmark May 15, 2007 Bottle. @ Copenhagen Øl Festival. Large beige creamy head that mostly diminished. Dark mahogany color. Yeast, dry fruit, liquorish, apricot, hint of chocolate with some woodish like notes as well. Notes of brown sugar and chocolate. Full bodied with a soft carbonation and light alcoholic texture. Well balanced moderated sweet with some bitter alcoholic flavor. Nice linger sweet finish. lucien (42), Argentina May 13, 2007 Dark Red/Brown colour. Too much bubbles and meduim head. A few seconds later the head dissapears. Fresh and fruity aroma. Spicy. Taste is fresh as well with spices notes but yeast is predominant. Great beer but too much carbonatation for be the perfect beer. The sensation in mouth is like soda or coke (bubbles). The finish is OK, hume and wood. Great beer. gnoff (3559), Göteborg, Sweden May 13, 2007 (750 ml bottle) Dark deep red color, fluffy tan head. Almonds and marzipan alcohol scent, also fruity and Belgian ale yeast. A bit spicy as well, but lots of alcohol that is dominating. Spicy, yeasty and bitter taste, warming alcohol as well. Spritzy mouthfeel, low bitterness. Alcohol, yeast and spicy aftertaste. punkrkr27 (606), Berkley, Michigan, USA May 5, 2007 2004 bottle. Pours a dark brown with a ruby highlight and a big white head which fades fairly quickly to a ring. Aroma is quite fruity with notes of apple, pear, caramel maltiness, typical Unibroue yeastiness, cookie dough. Flavor is quite different from the aroma with some cherry, chocolate, a little bubblegum/banana esters, raisins. Medium-full body with quite a bit of carbonation. jstraw (750), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 5, 2007 Updated: Sep 26, 2007Very dark mahogany with big, foamy head / Medium body, spritely carbonated, with good finish / Mild, creamy flavors of sour malt, banana, chocolate, raisins, and dates / Very good, but a little too restrained in flavor and bit too boisterous in carbonation.
