Commercial Description:
La Terrible is a dark brown beer on lees and is part of a collection of exotic and refined Unibroue beers brewed using 100% natural raw materials. It may be drunk as an aperitif or as an after dinner digestive. It is equally a perfect accompaniment to the above-mentioned dishes or a pleasant alternative to coffee.

The beer pours a deep, dark mohagany, almost brown color. The head is thick and deep tan color with very nice lacing. The aroma was very fruity with hints of caramel, chocolate, coffee and candy. The thing that hits you the most with La Terrible is the mouthfeel and palate. Not at all what I expected from this baby. The finish is so smooth and enjoyable. What a great effort from Unibroque!

I am very suprised I liked this beer. Had in a 750ml. Corked and caged. Pours a very dark black, semi thick. A light brown head that fizzes then fades. Alot of fruit on the nose. Smooth mouthfeel. Hints of rasins, dates, slight roast, alcohol, figs, and sweetness. The finish is massive dates and rasins then a delayed date hint. Very, very good.

Bottled-cork & wire: Vintage 2004- Pours a very deep brown color; opaque with a nice ruby hint in the light. The very lively and bubbly tan head fades to a consistent film. Very fruity aroma. Light vinous qualities with hints of muscat grapes, prunes, figs, light citrus notes, with some chocolate & toffee in there as well. Has a very carbonated mouthfeel, almost harsh. The initial flavor is full of fruityness with elements of green apple, dark berries and fig. There’s also some light notes of oxidation and a wood hint, yet it has aged nicely. There’s a subtle sweetness in the middle reminiscent of brown sugar. The finish is the most impressive part of this Belgian Strong. It leaves with a nice roasty, almost earthy flavor, with light hints of tobacco, raisins, and roasted toffee. This is a nice Ale, and it’s a shame the mouthfeel is too abrasive. Other than that this is a very well crafted and enjoyable Belgian Strong.

Complax brown Sugar/Raw Sugar aromas, pours with a thick brown latte like head, color is almost impenetrable black/brown. Flavour is more dark sugar with some slight spice. The overall beer is good, it manages to conceal a ridiculous 10.5% with ease.

Poured a very dark brown with a very thick tan head. A very fruity and malty aroma. The taste was just as good as the aroma, alcohol was not too overbearing, very good overall

Pours almost black brown with a ruby hue and a thick frothy tan head. Strong fruity aroma, notes of cherries, candy sugar, molasses, and a light hint of alcohol. Flavor has an overall cherry like tartness, a hint of candy sugar, notes of anise, and an alcoholic sweet finish. Palate is medium, lightly effervescent, tart, and dry, with some lingering anise.
