Commercial Description:
La Terrible is a dark brown beer on lees and is part of a collection of exotic and refined Unibroue beers brewed using 100% natural raw materials. It may be drunk as an aperitif or as an after dinner digestive. It is equally a perfect accompaniment to the above-mentioned dishes or a pleasant alternative to coffee.

Bottle Marked 2004. Pours a very dark brown, with smaller tan head that dies rather quickly with stubble lacing. Aromas of Chocolate, light coffee, yeast, faint hints of malt and fruits. Flavor is nice, sweet, and smooth. Hints of raisins and malt come through, with other dark fruits and caramel. Finish is nice, fizzy, but smooth.

Fizzy flavor with a dark pour. Flavors akin to spiced cola in a strange way. Rather malty. Not a favorite from Unibroue.

Mlat hop aroma with spice. Black colour with great head and lacing. Smooth malt hop flavour with citrus aftertaste. Fizzy palate.

BB 06-11. Dark brown, almost chocolate colored pour; head is beige, small, and fizzy with nearly all diminishing and no lacing. Bold and nice nose; chocolate, plum, yeast, light coffee bean, raisin, and some definate notes of alcohol. Flavor is very similar and very malty; chocolate, brown sugar, and yeast make up the malty base with raisin, plum, and light coffee filtering in to make it complex. Palate is lively, medium, and almost silky in texture, despite the carbonation, with a fairly bold alcohol presence. Finishes average length (for a Belgian) and sweet with chocolate and raisin and noticable alcohol presence. Nice, very malty, unquestionably bold Belgian from Unibroue. Definately great as a desert-type beer, but still remaining quite drinkable. A little age might make this one much better, less carbonation and alcohol presence, but even still, a solid brew with lots of character.

2004: Dark brown pour, moderate head, above average lacing and retention. Aroma is very dusty yeast with sugars, lesser notes of dark fruits and malts. Alcohol well hidden, which is good. Sweet finish, fairly heavy beer. However, the flavors and complexity never jumped at me even with an older bottle. DO NOT DRINK WITH FISH!

One of my favorites from unibroue. Leesy, sweet fruit flavor. I wouldn’t want it any sweeter, but it’s just about right..

Saw this beer and thought to myself "If beers like Pabst say they are wonderful but taste terrible, then a beer that says that it is terrible right on the bottle must be great." It was pretty darn good. Sweet is about the best description. Most likely a bit too sweet for the style, but if you can deal with the sweet, it is a very nice beer to enjoy.

Thanks to BankerJoe for bringing along to a tasting to share. Pours a dark brown with hints of amber and a bubbly off white head that left some lacing. Aroma of dark fruits, caramel, some Belgian "Unibroue" yeast, very fruity, Flavor was candy sweetness, lots of carbonation, malty, dark fruits, caramel and surprisingly lingering hop bitterness despite the age.
