nijuro (63), USA Nov 28, 2006 licorice and plum on the nose. Clean, full mouthfeel with significant effervescience. blackcurrent and raisins on the finish. pronounced sourness, but not unpleasant. nice, but not up to the mark set by trois pistoles and la fin du monde. BeerBiker (1384), Odense, Denmark Nov 23, 2006 [Bottle from Beermouth tasted with the hop-bros at Jess’ cosy inn.]
A little dissapointing beer, maybe the bottle was infected or just we have had to many beers at that moment. As Cab says, it’s sweet and dry in a boring way! BenDover (125), Texas, USA Nov 22, 2006 2004 750ml bottle, tasted on Nov 22, 2006.
Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a thick tan head. Aroma of yeast and pretty strong alcohol, perhaps a hint of nutmeg. Flavor is a bit maltey, maybe nutmeg and cinnamon, and the alcohol is, shall we say, not too subtle. cab (861), Denmark Nov 22, 2006 Bottle from Beermouth. This one is not a balanced beer, it is sweet and dry and that is not in a nice way. beermouth (434), Langeskov, Denmark Nov 21, 2006 Deep amber/brown with nice slightly tan head. Caramel, malt, cane suger, toast and herbal. Nice body, but not very well balanced. DrBeer (777), Danderyd Stockholm, Sweden Nov 13, 2006 Brown with red notes.
Aroma of roasted malt, molasses, chocolate, licorice and some acid.
Rocky flavour with notes of berries, spices, alcohol and almonds. Sweet with dry finish. allfreej (358), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Nov 12, 2006 Bottled, 2004 vintage. Poured brown, with a thick, foamy medium-tan head, leaving lots of lace on the glass. The nose had notes of oak, spice, and cherries and the flavor was woody, fruity (cherries and apples), with a bit of spice (cinnamon?), and a hint of alcohol. The mouthfeel was soft and smooth and the finish slightly dry with just a hint of hops. LoveCaissa (873), Copenhagen, Denmark Nov 10, 2006 Sampled at an American Beer Tasting Event but unfortunately I forgot my notes. Some (very) dark fruits and a lot of spices (cardamom). Should be excellent for cellaring.
