Dark brown lasting head. Aromas of nuts, malts, molasses, toffee, french vanilla but very well maintained. Black berries, cherry’s, brown sugar makes this dark beauty a rollercoster of fantastic flavors. Bottles in 2005, this beer can age for a good 10 years...

Rerate; despite my previous rating, I have been wanting to rerate this one for a while. Color was a dark brown color with a medium to large frothy head. Nice Unibroue aroma; yeast, dark fruity, with some sweetness and molasses. Well it definitely isn’t terrible for me anymore; palate has definitely changed a bit. Fruity, roasted malt, sweet malt, caramel and yeast; some nice spice in the finish. Happy to have had this one again. I really didn’t like this. That is not too say that others will not like it alot. Poured a dark brown, fairly large whitish head. Carbonation was very evident. Aroma was very strong of fruit, and also of malt. Very strong taste of fruit and malt. I couldn’t put my finger on a taste that was very prevalent until I read some of the reviews. The flavor was fig. Not a huge fan. Wouldn’t drink again.

sampled from a 750, thanks Dan. Pours dark brown with a big off white head. Medium to high carbonation level, not as high though as a De Dolle. Aroma is light chocolate, caramel malts, and lots of yeast. Taste is a small amount of dark fruit, chocolate and caramel malt, earthy yeast, with a smooth finish.

Bottle. Very dark bown color with nice brown head. Woody, malty aroma, oak, fruits, figs, some yeast and vanilla. Smooth malty flavor, turning hoppy and a bit more aggressive after a while. Fruity notes, pepper and other spices.

Very nice, more than any others from this brewery perhaps. I like it very much, Maybe it is a little underrated. With a distiguishible sweet flavour, great malty aroma and good foam.

Pours extremely dark with somewhat of a medium head that disappears rather quickly. Flavor consists of malts and a fruity palate. Palate lingers just enough with a smooth finish. I was surprised by this one, didn’t expect it to be so well rounded.

2005: Pours dark cola brown w/ medium spritzy froth. Aroma is malty. Full nectar w/ ample residual effers that explode on the palate. Strong flavors of fig, roasted coffee bean, dried stone fruit, easy tobacco tar, vanilla, ripe plumb and black cherry, stewed carrots, wood, cassis, old leather, iodine, cola. The strong oaky wood character overwhelms the other flavors and leaves you w/ fruity iodine and oak on the finish. Finish is long w/ slight bittering. Overall: a very complex brew with strong flavors that will improve with some age. Highly recommended.

Aroma: spiritous, malty and stone fruit. Appearance: cola black/brown, small flat patchy head. Flavour: spiritous, malty, complex fig and vitamin C. Palate: medium lingering malty and coconut.
