Commercial Description:
La Terrible is a dark brown beer on lees and is part of a collection of exotic and refined Unibroue beers brewed using 100% natural raw materials. It may be drunk as an aperitif or as an after dinner digestive. It is equally a perfect accompaniment to the above-mentioned dishes or a pleasant alternative to coffee.

750 ml (2004)- Poured very dark brown with a frothy tan head that fell quickly. Sweet and spicy (like a ginger snap cookie) with a slight hint of fruit. The flavor throughout is good but the finish is "terrible", too pungent of an alcohol tastes that lingers a bit to long.

Frothy tan head over a dark brown body. Aroma typical of Unibroue, spicy and fruity. Taste is almost port-like, with some additional medicine qualities (not in a bad way), very soft. Smooth ending, nice spice with some light fruit.

Dark dark brown color with a large creamy light brown head. Sweet spiced aroma with some fruit shining through. Sweet fruity flavor, some molassas and spice in the end, somewhat warming from the high alcohol.

75-cl ’04. Pours gorgeous dark brown with a big falling tan head. Overbearing pears and green apples on the nose. Almost caustically fizzy. Ginger, molasses, dried fig, and prunes on the mid-palate, with a puckery long sour finish.

75 cl bottle - 2004. Yeast at the bottom. Very dark reddish brown colour with a nice head. Lovely aroma of wheat, dried fruit, sourness, yeast and spices. Complex flavour with notes of dried fruit, spices and yeast. Ends up with a warm feeling from the alcohol.

(05.13.06) Sampled at DiCarlo’s Spring beer tasting event. Bottle. 10.5% ABV. Poured hazy brown with small white head. No discernable carbonation. Spicy sweet malt aromas. Medium bodied ale that starts with moderate malt sweetness and caramel, spicy (coriander?), fruity (dried orange peel?) flavors. Complex flavor character. Finished dry with light malt fade. An excellent drinkable Belgium-style ale.

Found the notes, finally.
Aroma: malt (sweet), candisugar, chocolate caramel, dates, vinous, yeast.
Appearance: darkly reddish brown, halfclear. Thin, light beige yellow foam that sets quickly.
Flavour: bitter, foodish (don’t know the right word), soylike, sweet, very full-bodied, vinous.
Palate: rough, thick.

opaque, black body with small off-white head...aroma is somewhat lambic and flemish in style (the three styles (including bel strong ale) seem very reminiscent of eachother sometimes...nice spice and citrus aroma with a kriek lambic backbone...flavor is of dark fruits (namely black cherry), spices, vinegar, figs, plum, and raison...nice bready aftertaste
