warriorx99 (85), USA May 28, 2006 This beer pours dark brown and entirely untransparent with a tan fizzy head that’s persistent. The aroma is sweet and bready with a taste that’s malty with a very bready after-taste and that sweet spice taste that makes those unibroue beers so good. GG (1613), NorCal, California, USA May 22, 2006 Does Unibroue craft a bad beer? I mean everything I’ve tasted from them has been top notch. This was no exception either. Exquisite in aroma and flavor. Malty, dark fruits, spice, and peppery. This is an exceptional beer. I’m glad I’ve got a few stashed away because in about 5 years this is going to be phenomenal. marcus (1826), Sacramento, California, USA May 21, 2006 This dark brown ale poured with a short tan head. This is a typical Belgian-style strong ale, with a full body and some alcohol taste. There is a slighty herbal finish, making it seem like a digestive, as the brewer suggests. Tmoney99 (4663), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA May 19, 2006 Bottle. Dark brown color with a large frothy brown head that diminished slowly with good lacing. Moderate tart fruit and spice aroma with an alcohol tone. Medium body with a sticky texture. Solid sweet roasted flavor with a sweet smooth finish of long duration. Solid well balanced strong brew. biggcb (459), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA May 16, 2006 Bottle. Dark brown with mahogany highlights and a thin off-white head. Aroma of spices, malt and dark fruit. Medium creamy syrupy palate with very lively carbonation and a nice alcohol warmth. Flavor is mostly sweet and vinous, with notes of spice, dark fruit, anise and molasses. As it warms up, chocolate and roast notes become more apparent. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA May 14, 2006 i thought the other unibroues were much better at masking the alcohol than this one. served a bit too cold, and a little too carbonated for the style i felt. i thought this was boring, but the quality was nonetheless apparent. reebtogi (77), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada May 14, 2006 A very fine strong ale. Very yeasty flavour complemented with a hint of spice and very fruity. As with all Unibroue beers very cloudy in the glass and very heady, but head disappears quickly. KingpinIPA (842), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA May 12, 2006 Cloudy apperance. Smells very fruity and a powerful alcohol aroma. Can smell grapes and prunes too! Carbonation tickles the top of my mouth. Very sweet and fruity. Dry, bitterness at the end. Nice beer
