3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
It pours dark mahogany with ruby highlights; the head is bone and mousse-like. The aroma has notes of: cardamom, cloves, yeast funk, hay, figs, and alcohol. The taste is dry that finishes light bitter; there are notes of: cloves, figs, a tiny bit of burnt coffee, and lots of alcohol. The palate is full bodied, slick, medium carbonation, and a long finish. Overall, when this is young it’s very closed - definitely needs a couple of years to perk up.

Nice malty spiced aroma (rum?) Dark chocolate color with a thin but creamy head. Strong but smooth taste. Sweet finish. Excellent for the class. Excellent drinkability for the class also!

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Aromas of clove and other spicy phenols, and dried dark berry fruit, roasted malt, and subtle banana. Very dark, almost black, with ruby-bronze highlights, head is minimal but long-lasting. Dry and spicy, with a savory earthiness, herbaceous, bitterness redolent of citrus fruit rind. Medium bodied, refreshingly carbonated, finishes with lingering fruity esters and earthy bitterness.

Tap pour at Devil’s Advocate. Tulip glass with a deep plum color. This one is definitely in the Belgian sour vein. Aroma is really good. Taste is dark fruit and sugar prevalent. The end is slightly bitter but overall quite easy to drink. Not sure more than one in a night is recommended.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at Khyber Pass. Walking into this beer completely blind. Poured way darker than expected. Good amount of tiny tan bubbles on top. Sweet, dark and complex. Burnt wood tea. Dark fruit: Raisins. Prunes. Bing cherries. Dark vegetables: Rotted celery, kale and artichokes. Dark malty spice: Chocolate covered espresso beans. Cigars. Black peppercorns. Nutmeg. Ultimately feels a bit watery but the palate is very broad and deep. Worth sipping and enjoying.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This beer has flavor throughout it. Great nose, earthy nutty, anise, vanilla that smells tasty and tastes tasty, but the lack of carbonation in this 750ml corked bottle was extremely disappointing and I would of expected more. Might be bad or oxidized beer.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
This was interesting. Poured into tasting glass a dark brown. Cloudy with small head. I expected this one to be a big beer but it is simpler. Aroma was yeast, wine, malt. Taste had a wine note, dark fruits, light yeast. Nice malt balance. Warming, sticky. This for me is a stand alone, after dinner beer. Not at all terrible and very easy to drink for a higher ABV. This is another Unibroue with well hidden alcohols.
