pours a very dark rich color with a thick dark tan head ... smells of a fruity blend w/ light scents of alcohol and hints of bubble gum..palate has some great carbonation good reamy swallow.. the flavor finishes w/ a little spice and a very light easy alcohol taste that lingers in my mouth and feels nice and warm after I swallow in addition to this I get some sweet fruity flavors in the taste w/ maybe a malty flavor as well. This was a great beer and I enjoyed it thouroughly.

Corked and caged, best before 11-15-2016. Sweet nose with a mix of dark pitted and rotting fruit. Light chocolate, stronger figs, dates, berries, cherry, plums, toffee, caramel, earth, oak, spice and yeast. Dark mahogany body with coke and ruby highlights, eventually flattens out, with a noisy tan cola head. Taste is sweet to very sweet (candis added to all the listed fruit) -- but not too sweet -- and has a wonderful slow-burn alcohol, not hot or charring on the organs, but very subtly and slowly increasing in the chest and belly, a masterful act of taming from the kennelmaster. Fruit is still there and strong bu the spice is backed off; yeast is still there at the end, Belgian as ever, with a bit of vanilla. Low bitterness a touch under balancing. Medium body with slick malt and the depth of a good quad, very spirit-like. This is a young bottle but my, how classy and pleasant it is already!

Dark brown/black color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of sweet malt, yeast, dark fruit, & molasses; Flavor of sweet malt, yeast, caramel/syrup, rich dark fruit (notably plums & figs), raisons, and spice; Nicely balanced; The alcohol is well hidden; Overall, very tasty but just a little flat - dangerously drinkable though.

bottle. Pours deep purple/black, bubbly one finger head in trappist glass. Aroma is mostly dark fruit, raisin, fig, also some lighter unibroue yeast. Taste can be almost wine-like, a little acidity on top of the sweet fruits. Pretty good.

On tap at Ridgewood (Raleigh) Dark and cloudy. A fruity aroma that just doesn't go anything for me, with a taste that matches. I believe it is the fig that is coming through.... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A - Pours completely opaque with a rocky 2 finger tan head. Retains very well. S - Green apple skins, dusty yeast, clove, pinot grapes, T - Apples and dark fruits off the top- figs, prunes, raisins and some melon. The yeast is there but doesn’t come out and try to bully through the flavors. There is a pinot grape like acidity creating a vinous character. The roasted malts are weaved with molasses, licorice, clove, and pepper. Banana is pronounced when warm. Finishes tangy and slightly acidic. M - Moderate carbonation, fizzy, medium to full body. The bright white grape character was unexpected but melded perfect. All the flavors seem so balanced that nothing sticks out. The drinkability is very high for the style. Alcohol is hidden well.
