| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 22, 2004 Sample glass, RateBeer Southeastern Gathering. Lots of molasses, coffee, and chocolate. Very dark brown color. Very sweet throughout with a little bit of acidity in the finish. Medium body, creamy texture, lively carbonation. The bottom line is: how unique, a Unibroue beer that isn’t yellow and fizzy! heykevin (1269), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 13, 2004 Light banana ester in the aroma, and holy ethanol batman, this guy throws a huge alcohol aroma wrapped around the signature house spiciness. Dark and sweet, some phenolics, and huge huge alcohol flavor that's rather distracting. I'm not getting alot of malt complexity. Well made for sure, but not my cup of beer. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 11, 2003 Had this one immediately after we tasted the 11 with Graeme's stupendous Spicy Salsice pasta. La Terrible pours an opaque dirty brown with small shortish lasting speckled beige head. Faint bready yeast, spices and medium caramel malt aroma. Smooth medium-full but very low carb body. Festive plum pudding and vinous flavours. Alcohol evident but well integrated. Clean astringent finish and aftertaste. Another CapnFlu donation. Thanks Todd - it brings back a lot of memories of my recent Canadian beer adventure. Humm. . . mabe the 11 went better with the Spicy Salsice pasta. MI2CA (1266), Noblesville, Indiana, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 28, 2006 750ml - 2004 vintage - Aroma is slightly mettalic. Yeast, milk chocolate, candi sugar, some dark fruit and spice. Pours deep dark brown with a medium off white head and good lacing. Flavor is chewy yeast with some dark fruit, grape, and spice. Hides the 10.5% very well. Palate is sticky and tart but gets smoother as it warms. Another solid Unibroue brew. JCW (1262), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Feb 1, 2003 Dark brown in color, a yeasty, fruity aroma. Alcohol was very hardly noticed. Fruity sweetness mixed with a malty flavor. Belgian is not my style, but I liked this one. Very nice beer. Cheers MartinT crazyvin (1255), New York, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Mar 31, 2005 alcohol was certainly not well hidden. Mainly malts to tis beer, aroma was mainly sweet with some fruit like notes. Taste was also sweet but slightly over-carbonated which made it heavier on the palate. A warm alcoholic finish.
