750mL corked 03-1. Impressive head that lasted a few minutes, white. This is a sexy brew! Deep mahogany ruby. Thin lace holds to edge of glass. Slightly fruity, earthy, and some what leather like in scent. Taste is very fruity with an alcohol warth. Similar to sweetened pineapple juice, pear, and a slight linger of banana. The malts are superb! Very enjoyable and somewhat similar to wine. Wish this was more available in my area!

2.5 years old but not in the best conditions. Fresh yeast in aroma.round brown sugar in aroma. Dominated by dark malts but sourness appears later. Maybe to simple.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Burnt raisin, sweet, subtle toasted malt and tart fruity aroma. Subtle champagne-like yeast. Raisiny flavor; dark fruit, sweet. Sour apple-sh fruit. Earthy yeast. Sweeter in the finish.

on tap @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear, very dark brown color, good light beige head, dots and spots of lace. Taste is malt and dark fruit and loamy fresh turned earth, but mostly, it is the warmth of alcohol, which is more of a distraction than a positive quality. Good, not great.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml caged and corked bottle, back of bottle says best before 04-15-2015. Served in a chalice, the beer pours very dark brown with about an inch tan head that stuck around for a little while. There’s also a decent amount of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells like dark fruit, brown sugar, chocolate, caramel, dark bread and a sweet spiciness. For the most part I think the taste is just like the aroma, but there’s also some earthiness and a bit of tart cherries noticeable. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s smooth, a bit coating, and has a good amount of soft carbonation. Overall I liked this, certainly worth picking up if you’ve never had it before!

Not bad but better in small doses. Has a really strong flavor that sits in the mouth a little long.

Draft at Ale Mary’s. Pours extremely dark brown with a very thin tan head. Tastes very smooth, like raisin, caramel, earth, light alcohol, malty. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like raisin, nutty, caramel, earth.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap it is very dark brown with a red tint and modest beige head. Taste is malt with fruit and spice in some complexity. Very smooth with great mouthfeel. There is a faint hint of alcohol but it is along the lines present in a good port or sherry, It all works nicely and is a very good beer.

Sampled at Northgate Tasting. Worth a second look since my rating was quick and much lower than the average... but this was darker with a dirtier taste, and I just wasn’t feeling the love here. Still want a second look at this one.
