750mL corked 03-1. Impressive head that lasted a few minutes, white. This is a sexy brew! Deep mahogany ruby. Thin lace holds to edge of glass. Slightly fruity, earthy, and some what leather like in scent. Taste is very fruity with an alcohol warth. Similar to sweetened pineapple juice, pear, and a slight linger of banana. The malts are superb! Very enjoyable and somewhat similar to wine. Wish this was more available in my area!

On tap it is very dark brown with a red tint and modest beige head. Taste is malt with fruit and spice in some complexity. Very smooth with great mouthfeel. There is a faint hint of alcohol but it is along the lines present in a good port or sherry, It all works nicely and is a very good beer.

Sampled at Northgate Tasting. Worth a second look since my rating was quick and much lower than the average... but this was darker with a dirtier taste, and I just wasnít feeling the love here. Still want a second look at this one.

Itís simply the best beer Iíve ever tasted. I was tempted to give it perfect marks but I always leave room for improvement. I think it will contend for the top spot when more people review it.

not sure of the age on mine, but man, is it "refined" like the brewerís descriptions says. I had hopes for this one, but I gotta say, I think this brewery is overated and a little rough around the edges usualy. But then comes Terrible, a fantastic dark, roasted, subtly spiced belgian strong ale that made me rethink what Unibroue is capable of. Some similar flavors (dark fruit, yeast, spices) that other belgians have had, but more elegant and restrained here, with a choclatey aspect as well as wine-like complexity. Full bodied, full flavored, expertly balanced. Easily their best beer, and one of my favorite Canadian beers of any kind. "

It has a very dark brown colored body that is nearly opaque. A tall tan head of big soft bubbles slowly settles down to a finger of thick and creamy foam. Lacing is thick, sticky and coats the glass. The aroma is light and delicate. I get modest hints of sweet bready and mildly funky yeast with some fruity notes of dark cherries. There are fruity/estery notes with hints of sweet-tart black cherries, dry yeast and bready maltiness. This is balanced by a very light herbal leafy hop presence that also adds a light bitterness and a slight mineral or metallic touch. The palate feels smooth and creamy with mellow yet very active carbonation and a good solid medium to full body.

Bottle served in a tulip. Past itís drink by date by almost a year. Pours near black with a short beige head. Almost no lacing. Nose has heavy bleu cheese, malt and background prune. Mild sweet with a hint of sour. Medium body, sticky texture, decent carbonation and a moderately dry, light bitter finish. The alcohol is well hidden. This would likely rate better if it were fresh.

750 ml bottle. I purchased this at Market Basket, I always walked past it thinking it was mediocre. Well yet again I am wrong. The thing I love about beer is it can alway surprise you, this beer did just that. Dark brown with amber hues, thick white head. severed in a chalice. Aroma is plums, raisins, anise, light red grapes and Belgian yeast. Spilt 3 ways with family and friends.

More complex and real surprising for a brew you can find in a super market! Flavor is a myriad of malty flavors with yeasty notes. Prunes, figs, dates, English toffee. The yeast gives the malt some balance and complexity. Fruity yeasty flavors, cherries, red grapes giving a mild port wine flavor. This brew is sweet but still works. The texture is smooth with a medium body with a mild sugary finish. Could be the best brew I purchased at a super market!

Pours a dark semi translucent chocolate with tan fluffy head. Subtle roasty nose with funky yeast . Taste is a flash of sweet malt then bubbly effervescent bitter vegetal spicy yeast. I think I just donít care for Unibroues yeast.

Sweet Belgian yeast, strong malt (medium roast), dark fruit focused. Some alcohol on the finish. Sweet, yet not overly sweet or syrupy. Long finish boasts lots of plum and raisin. Hints of earth and anise. Mild spices arenít overpowering, yet adds to the balance. Well made brew.
