La Terrible is a dark brown beer on lees and is part of a collection of exotic and refined Unibroue beers brewed using 100% natural raw materials. Bottle (750ml). Poured dark brown-black with an average foamy light brown head that lasted for a little while. Aroma of bread-dough yeast, spices (cloves, cinnamon), apple, raisins, sweet roast malt, wee bit of alcohol. Taste is stewed prunes, spices, roast brown sugar malt, alcohol, other dark fruits, bready yeast, maybe a hint of chocolate - lovely. Mouthfeel is very lively yet creamy, can’t fault it. Another home run from Unibroue - note to Sleeman: DON’T CHANGE THIS BEER!

Does Unibroue craft a bad beer? I mean everything I’ve tasted from them has been top notch. This was no exception either. Exquisite in aroma and flavor. Malty, dark fruits, spice, and peppery. This is an exceptional beer. I’m glad I’ve got a few stashed away because in about 5 years this is going to be phenomenal.

Flaske. Fantastisk farve og duft rammer dig når du hælder denne øl op. Komplekse noter af malt, krydderier og rørsukker. Disse fortsætter i smagen, der er sammensat og ideel. Brilliant øl.

Holy smokes, this is good! Poured deep dark brown, almost black, with ruby and orange highlights when raised to the light. Thick, pebbly, tan head with wonderful lacing and a patchy film that stayed strong throughout. Wonderful Belgian aromas of figs, raisins, plums. Hints of dark malts, bread, and brown sugar suggest something special once I get around to drinking this. And the flavor profile does not disappoint. The dark fruits lay the foundation up front, then a generous helping of hops and a clear earthy yeastiness follow right behind. The finish features a rich, bread-like maltiness that was promised on the nose. Full bodied, lively carbonation, and a clean aftertaste. This is why I prefer beer to wine.

Shared this with MereLikesBeer, I originally purchased this as a potential for my 300th rating, but went with the Uninbroue 17. HOWEVER, this stuff is equally as epic. It’s a dark Belgian style beer, with tons of prune and raisin, and a hint of clove on the finish. It truly is an epic beer, equal to the task of pairing with a good steak, as well as creme brulee.. Cheers!

Definitely qualifies as one of my favorite beers. Oh, this one is beautiful. Pours black like the Saint of Killers’ soul, and just keeps getting better as you go along. Absolutely fantastic.

potent aroma of belgian yeast and alcohol with a small hint of licorice (when cold). as the beer warms there are notes of raisins and plums. black bodied with faint tones of deep browns. the alcohol presence slightly numbs my tongue as the flavors announce themselves. these flavors include sweet malt, raisins, candi sugar and of course, some alcohol. smooth and pleasing.
