Oct 27, 2003 Very rich, delicious beer. Aroma is rich and complex. Appearance is very attractive dark/plum color. Flavor is rich and dessert like with strong fruit flavor and a dash of spice. Excellent. Thanks to CapFlu for the hook up.

Nov 25, 2003 This beer is amazing and huge. It reminds me of Chimay Grande Reserve meets Liefmans Goudenband. Pours dark and malty from the bottle with a huge creamy tight head. Aroma is fruity and yeasty. Very smooth on the palette, starts off sweet and finishes dry and tart with lots of alcohol. IMO, by far the best product that Unibroue has produced.

Oct 29, 2003 strong raisin aroma with hints of spritziness, dark purplish brown with a nice tight tan head, some spicy notes up front along with candy and raisin and some sour flowery notes towards the finish, overall it tastes like liquid velvet

Oct 11, 2003 Ooooh so terrible! beautiful black with hefty tan foam wafting up bellicose perfumes, men's cologne, some cheesiness, dark plum, fruit skins, with serious bright and bigness, fully efferevescent as it warms to 63°F. This is so well styled.

Jul 3, 2009 Very aromatic with fall-ish fruits...figs, raisins, plums. A bit thinner than expected and the high alcohol content is a little too up front but it is very, very good beer. Highly recommended.

Dec 1, 2009 I’ve sampled Unibroue beers in the past, but this is my favorite from the Unibroue family. Fairly strong alcohol content of 10.5 %. Nice taste. Very rich and complex. I will be purchasing more of this brew in the future. A must try!

Jul 2, 2003 Poured extremely darker than I was expecting, with a thin, light brown head. A vinous and fruity nose. Red grapes, raisins, sweet apples, plums, a bit of sweet chocolate, rich malt, caramel, cherry and perhaps toffee and sugar make up a delightful start. Try as I might, was unable to find any alcohol present in the nose. The effervescence make the mouth laugh with delight. The flavor really shows the maltiness, but also brings out some sweet fruits as well. Again, the alcohol is almost completely hidden. Incredibly smooth, sweet fruit dipped in chocolate and again in caramel is reduced into a teaspoon. The finish brings about the only signs of alcohol, a warming belly. The shear experience of drinking this finest of concoctions is very near that of gnosis. Many deepest thanks to radiomgb for my initiating this most recent religious experience.
