blindeyedbetty (99), Arlington, Virginia, USA Nov 11, 2007 Updated: Nov 30, 2007 750 oz. pour. Poufy, big light tan head which quickly diminishes. Aroma is malty, milky and somewhat caramel-nutty. Front palate of fruit and spice, with a malty middle and finish of coffee with some bitterness / dryness. Nice heavier beer for colder months.
elihapa (318), Connecticut, USA Oct 10, 2008 Pours a dark, dark brown with a tan head. NOT what I expected from Unibroue!! Aroma of wine, earth, plum and grapes. Flavor is a jumble of varied things, which include but are not limited to chocolate, cherry, dates, and malt. All of this complemented by the trademark Unibroue prickly carbonation. La Terrible finishes spicy with cinnamon, and with more than a tickle of alcohol to let you know it isn’t screwing around. lb4lb (1462), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 7, 2008 Bottle shared at tasting. Thanks!
Pours a muddy dark brown with a light beige head. Smell is yeasty, almost cherry and gummy like, with raisins. Taste is creamy dark malt with raisins, dark fruity, belgian yeast, spices and bananas. Medium body and light carbonation. Almost a touch skunk in the flavor, somehow. Not bad, but not a favorite of mine. blipp (822), Grand Island, New York, USA Oct 6, 2008 Bottle. Pours deep ruby with a beige head. The aroma is fruity, like sweet apples, anso spices and yeast. The flavor is also sweet, but more along the lines of plums. Also spices, yeast and a bit bready. The finish is a bit dry. Very good. keepersj12 (428), Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA Oct 2, 2008 Every beer from this brewer is top notch. This one is no different. Beautiful dark ruby red. Nice head persists. Very complex flavor with a lot going on. Very nice after taste. Bring me more. Rune (1812), Tromsø, Norway Oct 2, 2008 Shining mahogany body with a white ring around the rim of the glass. Moderate aroma of orange shells. Rich and exciting flavours of grapes, sweet berries, prunes and brown sugar ending up with a suitable bitter touch, added a little alcohol tingle. Soft carbonation. Worth repeating in larges quantum than the 100ml taster I had on EBF (Copenhagen, 14.09.2008).
