Pours deep brown/black and has the aroma of dark candi sugar. Dark malt and belgian yeast give this one its uniqueness.

Bottle served in a tulip. Past it’s drink by date by almost a year. Pours near black with a short beige head. Almost no lacing. Nose has heavy bleu cheese, malt and background prune. Mild sweet with a hint of sour. Medium body, sticky texture, decent carbonation and a moderately dry, light bitter finish. The alcohol is well hidden. This would likely rate better if it were fresh.

750 ml bottle. I purchased this at Market Basket, I always walked past it thinking it was mediocre. Well yet again I am wrong. The thing I love about beer is it can alway surprise you, this beer did just that. Dark brown with amber hues, thick white head. severed in a chalice. Aroma is plums, raisins, anise, light red grapes and Belgian yeast. Spilt 3 ways with family and friends.

More complex and real surprising for a brew you can find in a super market! Flavor is a myriad of malty flavors with yeasty notes. Prunes, figs, dates, English toffee. The yeast gives the malt some balance and complexity. Fruity yeasty flavors, cherries, red grapes giving a mild port wine flavor. This brew is sweet but still works. The texture is smooth with a medium body with a mild sugary finish. Could be the best brew I purchased at a super market!

Pours a dark semi translucent chocolate with tan fluffy head. Subtle roasty nose with funky yeast . Taste is a flash of sweet malt then bubbly effervescent bitter vegetal spicy yeast. I think I just don’t care for Unibroues yeast.

Sweet Belgian yeast, strong malt (medium roast), dark fruit focused. Some alcohol on the finish. Sweet, yet not overly sweet or syrupy. Long finish boasts lots of plum and raisin. Hints of earth and anise. Mild spices aren’t overpowering, yet adds to the balance. Well made brew.

Pours jet black with off-white head. Frothy head, substantial lacing. Sweet citrus, yeast on the nose. Dark fruit (dates, figs, plums), Belgian yeast, hints of caramel and vanilla, with a touch of bitterness on the back of the tongue.

Poured from 750mL bottle (best before 01-18-2018, saved for a year). Light black with tan head. Aroma has lots of sweet raisin, fig, and plum, a little unibroue belgian yeast and citrus notes. Taste similar, but the alcohol comes through and gives it a little kick.

Poured in to a tulip. This beer pours a very black with a head of toasted caramel that reaches 1.5 fingers and doesn’t let go. the scent and taste go hand in hand with coffee and earthy nutty flavor. This is a awesome ale brewed to perfection and gives the best taste aroma I have had yet

Decent, but it doesn’t taste like a real Belgian to me. Unibroue’s yeast isn’t particularly interesting, and this beer is overly sweet. All I am getting is molasses, brown sugar, dark candi sugar, and a little plum/fig/date flavor. Next time I’ll stick with Trois Pistoles, a much better beer.

Pours earthy chestnut brown with a massive foaming bubbly tan-white head. Leaves wet lacing and fades to a rim and light coating. Aroma is strong with Belgian yeast, slightly smoky malt and mild notes of darkfruit. Taste is rich and malty with a sweet finish. Plenty of flavors - caramel, prunes, cherries and a yeasty echo. Just a touch of alcohol evident. Very good; a touch too sweet for excellence.
