Tap pours cloudy copper brown with off white head. Smells of musty grain and fruit. The taste is hearty and smooth with a nice Belgian flair. There is a good amount of clove with a dark amber malt and some pear and apple fruitiness. You get most of was the brew has up front but that doesn’t make it less awesome.

Rödbrunt hälls ölen upp och ett väl tilltaget skum lägger sig fint ovanpå. Kryddor och röda bär i aromen. Ingefära (mmm), vingummi och skumbanan i smaken.

Reddish brown, cloudy, tall cream head. Smells like lots of spicy, alcohol, bread, and flowers. Taste like white pepper, ginger, brown sugar, caramel malts, bitter sweet orange and other citrus. Has a big mouth feel, but the after taste is a little anti climatic to me. Otherwise, this is great!

Smells like sweet spices. Has an amber color. Tastes decent, like spice and alcohol. Lingers on the tongue.

Dark brown colour with a tall frothy off-white head. Aroma is sweet malt, quite a bit of dark fruits, spices and notes of caramel. Taste is similar with more accent on the fruit. Really nice.

Bottle poured into a Duvel tulip. A - Pours reddish brown with a nice one finger tall white head leaving spotty lace down the glass. S - Smells of bready yeast, pears, dark fruits, pepper, and caramel malts. This one is pretty yeasty. T - Starts off with a bit of dark fruit quickly giving way to a mix of bready yeast, fruits, light spice, and some caramel sweetness. The booze is ever present, light at the beginning growing stronger as it sits in the glass. Finish is a mix of chewiness and light sweetness, lingering on the pallet for some time. M - Medium body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Smooth, chewy feel that lingers on the pallet for some time. O - Not too bad. I liked the flavors and it was somewhat easy to drink but the chewy feel really began to wear on me as I came to the bottom of the bottle. I may have to revisit this one again sometime.

750ml bottle pours a cloudy dark amber with a quickly dissipating off-white head and little lacing. Upon my first whiff (which had me thinking floral hops, orange and coriander) I expected another Belgian style ale. However, this one is full of cinammon and a different from any other strong Belgian I’ve tried. Body is medium, carbonation is very noticeable, and the taste is spicier than I expected. 8% ABV does its trick, and the second half of the bottle tastes better than the first (perhaps because of the warner temperature). A good warming beer with an interesting legend behind it, but not as complex as I was hoping for.
