Commercial Description:
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

darker red pour into my tulip. I have had this beer many time but am just getting around to raiting it now. Nice floral aroma with a touch of Belgian yest. the flavor is very complex with notes of citrus, belgian yest and a hint of spice. Unibroue is soooooo enjoyable it sickens me.

12 oz bottle poured into a tulip glass. Poured an orange/brown with off-white foamy head, that dissipated to a ring. Aroma of yeast, dough, soap, orange peel, apple cider, dark fruit, and pepper. Taste of oranges and cherries, with plenty of yeast and doughy bread flavor. Finish is dry, and light/medium bodied with crisp carbonation. A very nice Belgian beer, which Unibroue always does a nice job of.

Aroma is largley fruity lots of cherries and apple in there. The flavor is drier than the aroma, certinally some cherries some well pronounced and nice warming alcohol, just mildly hoppy a little musty and yeasty. Pretty nice!

Poured from the bottle. It has a sweet, yeasty aroma. It has a sweet and dry flavor that clings to the palate.

Very delicious impersonation of a Belgian brew, but much smoother. Great beer to share with friends, for it is slightly cheaper. Better to purchase in a four pack for that reason, Good Belgians don’t come in that pairing. Tastes primarily of spices, some cherry, warming but still delightfully passive. Not much of a lingering aftertaste. No head but nice lacing.

A gift pack of 3 Unibroue beers is now finally widely available in Australia through First Choice liquor stores. Corked 750ml bottle into Trappist glass. A hazy copper brown ale with an ample dense biege head. Warming aromas of caramel roasted nuts and oranges. Tastes similar with a nice spicy finish and a gentle lingering bitterness. Smooth creamy mouthfeel that goes down very easily. On a par with some of the Belgium Trappist ales.

. Ive got more bottles.I’ll do a more reflective review or some shit . But this is an excellent Belgian style ale. I found this rich, malty and aromatic. Burnt fruit esters. Dogg , I must locate a case of 750mls.
