4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Cloudy light copper with a white head. Body of the beer looks almost like a hard cider. Nose more of fruit than of beer. Taste is banana, yeast, melon; the apples that I remembered from an earlier tasting are no longer there. Finish with a little hop, a little pepper, a little clove. I have to assume this is a wheat beer, but it is more in the style of an Aventinus then a Belgian, and I love it. More my style than the more Belgian Fin du Monde from Unibroue. A little bit bubbly, pleasant but less mouth filling as a result. Great beer.

Not bad... a bit thin, and not as flavorful as other unibroue products, and not that exciting. Decent

Maudite has a light brown color, but it is not clear it has sort of cloudiness to the beer, which makes it a very interesting site. When smelling there are distinct aromas of fruit (peaches, bananas, etc.) but with a sort of spicy hoppy smell mixed in, but whatever it is is pleasant. Then you get to taste this very complex brew and you are hit with all sort of fruit sensations and maltiness sparks as well as a spicy aftertaste. But this complex brew by Unibroue is going to be a favorite for some time to come......at least in my book.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: OCT 7, 2008 Corked bottle 750 ml, purchased at LCBO
Appearance: murky dark amber with hint of red. Large frisky creamy pillow like top. 4+
Nose: Clean nose. Blend of yeast, caramel malt, assorted fruits, Belgian spice and smooth alcohol. 7+
Flavor/Palate : Medium full bodied. Lighter front with blend of raw green bitterness, yeast, alcohol. Together those parts cooperate gracely. Ending in smooth Belgian strong ale way. You know alcohol is present but itís not pushy as in many American Strong Ales. Solid brew.

UPDATED: MAR 12, 2003 One of my favorites growing up in Quebec. Strong flavour and gets the whole party drunk on minimal consumption. Lovely spice and citrus flavours.

Poured a deep hazy orange. Nose is full of citrus and flowers. VERY effervescent on the palate. Flavors of orange, clove and maybe a bit of cinnamon. Not too bitter. Very "even" drinking beer.

Poured golden brown with a medium, bubbly head. Started with a sharper fizziness that mellowed later. Fruits tasted were grape and cherry in the malts and some citrus/orange peel and spiceyness/corriander. A nice hop contributed dryness and balance. This is devillishly good. (My 666th rating on Friday the 13. 12/13/2002)

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JAN 24, 2003 Incredibly appetizing fruity, musty, yeasty aroma. Tap version shows some even more pronounced banana and spice. Opaque medium red-brown color with some sedimentation and robust frothy head. Carbonation is quite suiting, just lightly bubbly and creamy. Initial taste is intensely fruity maltiness, followed by a slightly tart/spicy and fruity, yeasty aftertaste. Hops are somewhat subdued, leaving the malt blend to dominate. This is by no means a bad thing, the malt flavors are very nice and offer some complexity. Just a solid Belgian style beer.
