4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
I enjoyed a four pack with funk and while it does cost a dick and a ball the taste makes it all worthwhile. A great beer that I really can’t say enough good things about!

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Dark sludgy brown like a westmalle dubbel, but the head was short lived. Aroma initially suggests a trappist dubbell (westmalle, again) but develops into more of a rodenbach type woody spicyness, although not sour. Bread dough in the mouth with a fruity (fig?) spicy cakelike taste. Aftertaste is delicate but leaves behind the first hint of its taste. As I work my way through the Unibroue beer range, saving the strongest for last (I have a trois pistoles and a La Fin Du Monde left) I get more and more impressed.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
re-rate 4/30/02. Had to lower the score. I really have a little trouble with the taste of the yeast.
The color is nice. Medium dark reddish brown and cloudy. The head is a bit foamy and dissapates quickly. It has a mild pleasant smell. The flavor lacks some of the complexity that I would expect from a Belgian style brew, but the more I drank, the more I liked it. The alcohol only leaves the slightest footprint on the tongue -- just enough to let you know it’s there. Overall, a good beer.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Rustlike color with a cloudy/yeasty appearance and a good deal of lace. A very quiet nose with some bready notes. No real hop nose. Spicy feel witha subtle hint of hop bitterness that cleans itself up by the end of the sip. Somewhat citrusy orange flavor with a hint of raisins and maple sugar.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Another world class contribution from Unibroue. Reddish amber color, thick beige head of foam, tornado of carbonation. Apple-plum in the nose, pepper spice, coconut and faint mustiness. Slightly spritzy palate, grips at first then just slides its way through with ease. A sweet red apple fruitiness is the first note in the flavor blanaced by a mild spice mid-palate. Suggestions of pineapple juice and candy sugar arrive as the beer warms.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Opaque chestnut colour, highly carbonated. Strong malt taste but bitter & spicy, not sweet. Very thick. Strong tasty & brown but not complex.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Looks like swamp mud.
Kind of fruity sweetness like Amarilo. Another medical experiment. Reasonably speedy drinker...if you don’t wanna wait for the taste. Smooth Transitional Honest Palate. The AB (AfterBelch) stinks.

I started drinking this when North Coast stopped making Pranqster for a while. It was a decent alternative but I’m glad to see the Pranq back.

2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
Enjoyed the aroma more than the taste. The spiciness of it prevented me from enjoying this one more.Overall though...not bad.
