COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

Glass at Winking Lizard Crosswoods. Hazy brown pour with a medium beige head. Citrusy (orange and lemon) and spicy nose with notes banana and caramel. Banana flavor up front with caramel malt and clove with some orange zest in the finish. Pretty good for the style.

Very enjoyable beer. Goes down smooth. Very drinkable considering it’s strong characteristics. Surprises the palate and no nasty aftertaste. Very good.

A nice Belgian strong ale, would taste great on a cold night.

A-pours a hazy copper color with orange edges, thin bubbly tan head that fizzles away quickly. S-the nose is nice, grainy with notes of wheat. lots of orange peels with lemon zest in the back. T-lots of grain wheat flavors, oranges and lemon, hints of spicy pepper, a little harsh with notes of vodka in the back. M-rough and grainy on the palate, medium body with a good amount of carbonation and prickly finish. D-the nose was quite pleasant, the taste was a little boozy and grainy on the palate. not a ton happening here but it isn’t bad.

Opaque brown pour with a light tan head. Yeast and candied fruit aroma. Sweet fruit cake flavor, dry and crisp body. Another excellent beer from Unibroue
