4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Lady_Bastet (113) - Burlington, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 1, 2010
Poured from bottle in Whitehorse, YT. Deep copper colour with a sizeable, off-white head. Aroma of berries and cough syrup with some malt. Lots of malt throughout without being overbearing. Creamy, medium body and a lovely, smooth finish that was not abrupt or bitter. Lots going on in this brew. It is very special. Pity it took me so long to try it. Don’t wait as long as I did.

341ml bottle. Pours murky mahogany. Well laced head remains around the edges and thin on the surface of the liquid in the Trappist glass. Spicy aroma incorporating perceived clove + orange zest, apple and sour cherries. Medium mouthfeel zesty, peppery and with a complex caramel + pleasant yeast finish. Medium to high Carbonation. Definitely a gem to pick up any time at the beer store in Toronto.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20 Onionkid (224) - Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA - APR 26, 2010
Bottle. Bought in a variety 6-pack from a local liquor store. Pours an amber color with a large tan head. A sweet, malty taste. Actually has a fairly light aroma to it...malty and of toffee. Sweet when you first sip, with a slightly bitter aftertaste. Not a bad beer by any means, but the spices and overall flavor aren’t to my liking. The one thing I’ll say for it is that the alcohol is slightly noticeable and that’s a good quality for something with the wide flavor variety in this one. I mostly found it strange that something that makes me think of so many flavors coming from it (cherries, orange, any sweet pastry, toffee etc) with the taste would have such a minimal aroma. 8% alcohol.

0,33 l bottle as a gift.
Murky brown with a huge foamy ofwhite head. Fine belgian yeast character, fruity aroma with raisins, fig and some plum, apricot. Nice spcies like clove, cinnamon, coriander in the nose. Caramel and toasted malt based flavor with fine fruits, apricot and fig, raisins. Well rounded, fruity-sweetish palate with a well balanced alcohol. Coriander-hop aftertaste with a bit of honey. Pleasant ale, fine.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 Leighton (3598) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 18, 2010
Bottle at Peculier Pub. Pours a lovely read hue with a fine, short-lived white head. Aroma is faint malty sweetness, spices and mild farmhouse yeast. Flavor is quite delicate: Light caramel and fruitiness, with some sourness in the middle, ending with fine bitterness. Medium body with soft carbonation. Crisp finish. Nice complexity while still refreshing.

Maudite pours a dark red brown with a very small fizzy head that disappeared almost immediately, leaving just about zero lacing. The smell and flavor were better. Spice, somewhere between pepper and coriander seed, is particularly evident, at least compared to other Unibroue offerings. There are some interesting pine or spruce hop notes in the background. The delicacy of the hop flavor is a very nice touch. The taste is also earthy and fruity, in line with Unibroue’s range. I always enjoy the Unibroue feel of fine, prickly carbonation.
