Commercial Description:
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

Bottle from Dublin. Murky red, beige head, lively carbonation. Very Belgian yeast character. Sweet fruit - peaches and sour cherries. Nuts, flowers. Crisp hoppy finish. An excellent beer that would be perfect with some ripe cheese.

Found this one a thick amber/ orange color, with a beige tinted head. It smells sweet with a hint of tartness. The taste is deep and darts all over. Fruitier than I expected with sugar highlights and it saves the alcohol burn for the end.

Pours a dark amber color. The smell is somewhat tart, Not bad just different. The taste however is really good, like an explosion of fruit tittilating the palate, bearing a slightly metallic flavor and just a hint of alcohol late in the tasting expierience. All in all it has been a good expierience and is well worth the money.

Dark abmer with medium thick head. Smells of fruity metallic notes.m First taste is sweet. There is a slight bitter aftertaste which is most likely caused by the 8% Alc.. Sweet devil on bottle. Bottle at Bottlescrew Bill’s Calgary, AB.

(From bottle at Opal Devine’s on May 25, 2008) Murky brown with a tint of orange. Smells slightly sour. Taste is sour, of yeast. Sweet, and barely alcoholic. Cloud of yeast floating at the top... quite lovely. Very thin body.

On tap at Tanks Taproom in Tampa. Amazing aroma of brown sugar, roasted malt, and fruit pie. Soft foamy head like it was a nitro pour but the bubbly mouthfeel contradicts that. Taste is of pie and german yeast. Kinda like a hefe with more sweetness. Really tasty beer!
