COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

Bottle, and a demonic looking one at that. Pours a hazy amber body with an off white head. Typical yeast character, spices, and over ripe fruit. Etoh is a bit more subdued here. Some lighter cinnamon notes or cloves give this a nice spiced finish. Another good one.

Appearance deep amber. Creamy head, good lacing on glass. Well rounded, highly carbonated, medium body. Malty, with a lingering touch of citrus in aftertaste. Great beer overall, wish I had another.

Great strong malty brew. Caramel and dark with a touch of sweet. It’s a party in your mouth until your mouth goes numb.

thick white head that lingers for a bit but vanishes rather quick. good lacing though. strong malt (deep fruits) and a bit of alcohol undertone. with its deep colour, held to light is a hazy dark copper. taste was full malt with very slight hop and even slighter yeast.

From a 12oz bottle into a snifter. Pours with 4-5 inches of thin white head which takes a few minutes to dissipate leaving no lacing. Color is brown-auburn and cloudy. Aroma is of plums and other dark fruit, very nice. Taste is Sweet but not syrupy. Flavors are plums, grapefruit, brown sugar and some spice, like very mild chilis. Mouthfeel is excellent; light and smooth, not heavy or syrupy. Perfect for this beer. An overall good beer, tasty and solid, even with 8% abv, I could drink a few of these in one night. Can’t say that for many hight abv beers.

Black robe with dark red notes. Foamy head that last! The smells smells...pepper,oranges, black cherries and caramel. Very complex but refined taste where hops, yeast and roast explode in the mouth with a floral and charcoal finish...ayoye

Tap. Mahogany pour. Offwhite clingy head. Aroma and taste of fig, black cherry, and maybe a couple other fruits. Pretty darn good stuff.
