Commercial Description:
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

Bottle: Dark amber colored pour with nice medium sized head. Sweet, spicy, malty aroma. Nice fruity, spicy finish. I enjoyed this.

Bottle. Palate is a little harsh due to strong carbonation. Flavor is bold: dark fruits, banana, wood, nutmeg and other spices. This beer was spicier than La Fin du Monde. Will try and re-evaluate to give a better description, but nevertheless this was very tasty.

Pours an almost opaque reddish brown. Moderate off-white head with good retention. Strong aroma of sweet caramel malt and toasted bread. Flavor is similar, although not as strong or as pronounced as the aroma. Medium bodied and somewhat over-carbonated. Not bad, but not my favorite from this brewer.

Out of the four Unibroue’s I’v tried, this one is my favorite so far. Poured mohogany with a tanish head. You can see the yeast and other malts settled at the bottom, leaving some aging potential. There is a tasty upfront sweetness, with notes of apples, spices and other sorts. This like a desert beer.

Flaske. Dejlig lysebrun øl med et fint skum. Drak årgang 2005 på flasken. Fin øl men mangler dog en smule kompleksitet. Gæren var altdominerende men stadig meget drikbar. Fin men ikke super.

12 oz Bottle, $2.99 @ Kegs & Barrels in McKinney, TX. Pours a nice hazy amber with very nice off-white head with excellent retention. Aroma was obvious before my nose hit the glass, aroma of nice fruity citris with notes of bannana and clove. Flavor was nice with strong caramel malt and nice yeasty bannana and clove flavor, with nice alcohole spice to complement. Palate was full with medium carbonation....GREAT beer!.

The beer pours a lively amber with a thin off white head. The nose is a mix of sweet fruit and light yeast. The taste is great mixing sweet fruits with a good balance of spices and yeast. The mouth feel is very carbonated.

Unibroue Maudite is a hazy brown/amber ale with yeast resting in the bottom. The aroma is full of bananna, apples, cloves and other fruits with a nice undertone of alcohol. The flavor is also very sweet with a dry end leaving the taste of alcohol in the throat.
