Commercial Description:
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

Bella sorpresa, prima birra canadese

750 mL bottle. Pours amber colored with effervescence in the head and the body. Faint aroma of malt with even fainter hops in the background. Not much hops in the taste, but an excellent maltiness, with flavors of cinnamon and lemon. Mmm.

Pours a cloudy amber color with a sweet smell of fruit. Sweet malty flavor from beginning to end. Medium-bodied with a full flavor. The only downside was a little too much carbonation. I would definatley recommend to a friend.

The carbination killed this one for me. I love the style, but it was masked. Also, there was a rough aftertaste. A very good Belgian, but not stellar.

A deep cloudy amber/mahogany with some sediment. Vert mediocre head. Yeasty/fruity/sweet smell with a hint of the devils dust. Very rich taste with the perfect carbonation level. Medium/lighter body that warms the throat due to the alcohol level. WONDERFULL overall experience...Unibroue produces some gems!

Bottle 33 cl. Pours an amberish brown with a medium tannish head and an aroma of spices, biscuits, mocca and ripe fruits. The flavor has a spicey bite and a bit of roastiness followed by sweetness. The flavor is not really strong and a bit watered down./ Overall this is OK, but not really good.

Deep amber with off-white head. Aroma of coriander and banana. Has similar taste with notes of toast and light chocolate as well. Finishes nice and dry.

࿂.1cl bottle) Hazy, dark amber colour with a big, off-white foamy head. Sweet, candied, slightly yeasty and fruity (dates, raisins) aroma, slightly toasted with zesty and herbal spice. Sweet, slightly sugary flavour, full bodied with a well-carbonated mouthfeel. Slightly yeasty, minimal-toasty and fruity taste with traces of caramel; moderately fruity and slightly toasty finish with residual malty sweetness and light spicy notes. Good one.
