COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

Thanks to rcasta. Drank it in Lago de Coatepeque. What a wonderful beer.....Pours burgundy with a nice tan head. Medium bodied, perfectly balanced, potent yet smooth to the palate almost silky. Not very malty or sweet, but dry. Excelente!!!

It has been awhile since I went for something from Unibrou due to the high cost but i put in for a four pack of this and know it is worth it, Clove and spice nose that gives into a citrus flowery taste. As always the extra fine unibroue texture and carbination makes this special. some alcohol and metal notes in the finish but they do not detract in the least bit.

Bottle... Poured a dark burgundy/brown with a white head. Aroma was a little tart with fruit and spiced malts. Lots of carbonation on the palate. Fruity flavors with smoked, dark malts, jelly or jam and maybe cloves. A little metallic character and a slight alcohol burn in the finish.

A Dark Amber coloured strong beer, no head , has a spicy taste with hint of citrus. Not a bad beer.

On tap at Novare Res. Pours a dark brown, reddish color. Aromas is mostly alcohol and sweet malt. Flavor is actually quite similar, not too heavily spiced, which is nice for a beer from unibroue. It’s not too complex, which in the case of this brewer i think is actually a plus. Maudite is a nice little double/BSA.

Pours a dark copper with a two finger head that dissipates rather quickly to a thin lacing. Aroma is complex with notes of citrus fruits and spice. Nice palate. Flavor has notes of citrus present in the aroma and malt. Finish is clean and lasting, with the full spectrum of flavors present.

Bottle pours dark amber color with thin whispy off white head. Aroma is strong yeast smells. I also detect some alcohol. Has a medium mouthfeel with high carbonation that feels stinging on the tongue. Flavor is mainly yeast. Overall a descent strong brew if you like strong yeast flavors.

A very nice dark colour and not too much head. The taste is quite strong and a bit tingly on the tounge. There’s a hint of the strong alcohal taste and then fruit flavour.
