COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

Dark golden pour. Beautiful beer. Very enjoyable. Light fruit aromas with a sour aftertaste but still drinkable. Will come back for more.

Well this is one big step above Labatt!!!! This brew poured up a deep dark amber colored body with a white frothy head with great retention and loads of lacing. Aromas of yeast, sweet malts, spices (cloves, etc.), bananas. Flavors of the same with even a hint of made-from-scratch fresh-baked biscuits. Medium-bodied, good carbonation, velvety smooth with a dry, yeast-filled finish and aftertaste. Smoked salmon would be my choice to pair up with this brew.

Bottle at the pub on the square in McKinney. Pours a deep cooper/mahogany with a medium off white head. The aromas are dark fruit, plum, musk, closet. The mouthfeel us sweet and sticky with a medium to heavy body. Cheers!

pours mahogany brown, persistent, fluffy off white head. notes of dark fruit, coriander, clove, lemon zest. on the nose. Tasty funk yeast, more dark fruits, lighter bodied esters on the tongue. Fluffy mouthfeel with a tart, dry finish. quite interesting and complex

Bottle in a pint glass - hazy red orange in color with plenty of tan head leaving significant lacing. Nose is yeast. Aroma is a leafy yeast with unique malts and of course alcohol. Full bodied and leaves a long finish along with a slightly metallic aftertaste. Taste is sweet. A wonderful beer to enjoy over and over.

Bottle looks really good. Beer in the glass copper coloured, nice head. Starts strong-malty, a bit alcoholic, fine spicy with hints of caramel. Warming-fiery finish, but well balanced, still spicy-strong. I really liked it.

Deep amber color and a big fluffy head that will not give up! Mostly yeast in the nose. Leads to some lightly toasted malt and a bit of a crisp hop kick. Some hints of clove, banana, and citrus in there, too. Complex, and well balanced, but not very assertive.

Bottle. Pours a deep brown carmel color. Smells of malt, chocolate and malt. Booze is well hidden. Tastes of grape, cherry and toffee. Great example of a belgian strong. Really nice
