Commercial Description:
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

12oz bottle. Bottled in June 07, consumed in Feb 08. This has been one of my favourite beers for as long as I’ve liked good beer, and should have been rated long, long ago. Pours a murky brown. Has a wonderfully yeasty and wheaty aroma. The initial taste is strong, yeasty with a touch of sweetness. It goes down the throat beautifully, with a full wheaty aftertase. I’ve always felt this beer to be a weizenbock. I really should do a blind taste test with this one and Aventinus and pick my favourite..

Bottle. Says best before March 2009, so I’m guessing it’s a few years old. Pours unclear orange/brown with a beige head. Sweet malt aroma, with fruit, caramel, yeast and nutmeg. Soft, medium body, quite a bit of carbonation. Flavor is again sweet. Ir has a lot going on but it’s very well balanced. Fruity, yeasty, and spicy. Notes of apple, peach, caramel, clove, chestnut, and floral hops. Short, dry finish, with a touch of yeast and a very slight bitterness. Very nice. Very drinkable and very tasty.

(Canada) Pours a nice reddish brown color with a wonderful thick foamy white head. The aroma is of warm bread, spices and yeast. The taste is creamy with some slight caramel notes!! The finish has a strong yeast flavor, but still very drinkable.

33cl bottle. Gift from a friend. It poured an dark orange colour with an almost non-existant head. It has a sweet aroma that smells of peach and/or apricots. It has a sweet flavour that tastes of peach and/or apricots, caramels and a hint of yeast. It has a short aftertaste.

Great, very smooth and drinkable. Flavor of dark fruits, but fortunately not too sweet. Some spiciness as well. Full bodied and lightly carbonated. No alcohol flavor.

75cl Bottle. Dark red/brown in color, with nice white head, long duration. Very malty (cereal, bread, caramel) and "unibroue yeasty" in aroma. Full bodied, low carbonation at high temperatures, very long and malty finish ! Malt, yeast, very fruit flavor, low hop flavor (lighlty bitter) with malty (caramel) and unibroue yeast aftertaste! Veeery Nice Beer !
