COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

Pours an odd brown-orange color with a thick tan head. Nice malty aroma. Good mouthfeel and great flavor. Malts predominate over hops. Definitely a buy-again brew!

Bierdimpfe (208) - Quebec, CANADA - APR 21, 2016
Almost opaque dark amber copper color with average glass clinging activity. Extra foamy sparkly beige 3 finger island head, lasting around 15 minutes, with strong legs. Aromas of sweet fresh fruits like apple and a little metallic. Flavors of caramel, apple, dark fruits, clove, floral and herbal spices. Balanced sweet syrupy taste with a sharp smoky black peppery feel and slightly bready. Slick full body with perfect carbonation. Well intensified finish of medium length, ending with a slightly spicy clove like feel with a woody and cider like fruity mouth coat. Overall an excellent craft with super fresh delicious balanced flavors and nice intensity having no perception of alcohol. A true pleasure to drink!

Matwill (91) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 7, 2016
