3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Couleur ambrée avec un col respectable. Aromes de fruits rouges, épices, céréales, alcool, noix. Complexes, mais gout générique de unibroue... Correct pour moi....

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a rusty amber with a large off-white head that settles slowly to a thick ring and film, leaving some soapy, splotchy lace. Nose involves candied pit fruit, some herbs, apricot, toast, clean spicy yeast, some delicate floral notes. Pretty sweet, somewhat tart, somewhat bitter. Medium bodied, quite active, slick, toward chewy, a touch grainy, finishing lengthy with herbs, toast, caramel, and spice. About what I expected, which is to say, excellent. It’s got that caramel bready thing going on, but it’s well balanced with the spice and fruit.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Purchased from town earlier today. $6.99 for the 750 mL bottle. To oversized snifter, it pours a murky redwood-tinted dark orange with which a Guinness-frothy baby powder head 1 and a half fingers in length stood. Aromas of Belgian yeast, cilantro, plantain peels, lime-flavored seltzer, powdered green tea, 6-row, caramelized sweet onions, wet newspaper, LME, and bailed hay. Tastes the same with the addition of unripe tangerines, green cardamom, stale sourdough, and cotton. Unibroue has the mouthfeel down, but the flavors were, in my humble aopinion, a bit off. However, potable as hell.

Honestly I drink a lot of Unibroue beers. But why shouldn’t I when they have so many great beers. Maudite is just another in a long line of quality beers.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
750ml cork bottle poured into a duvel glass around 10 degrees. Pours a hazy fiery copper with two fingers of creamy head. Retention is pretty good and the head leaves nice spotted lacing as it reduces. The nose is fruity and spicy with the signature yeasty feature found in Unibroue’s products. You also get a little booze which I think is nice. On the tongue, the brew breaks down with fruit cake, banana, cloves and alcohol. It has good corpus and leaves the palate with a lingering liquorish finish. I enjoy this ale from time to time and I always keep a few bottles in my cellar. You can leave it on the shelf for 5 to 8 years according to Unibroue’s website and if you do, it develops even more fruity and liquorish elements. Cheers!

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
In spite of breaking the cork off and then forcing the bottom half into the bottle (Happy New Year!?), this poured a cloudy reddish brown with a slight zip in the taste. The aroma isn't overwhelming nor is the taste unpleasurable. Gentle red ale that is slightly tangy with a nice taste. Good beer. And since it is Canadian, it goes very well in the winter while listening to Rush.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark brown/amber pour with a creamy foam head, nice lacing. Tons of flavours going on here, very strong almost wine like notes of plumbs immediately followed by a rich malty brown sugar profile, fading into sugars and other dark fruits at the end of the palate. Very nicely done.
