3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very small almost white head, mostly to fully diminishing, fair lacing. Brown orange body not opaque nor clear. Medium malt sweetness with caramel tones but mostly yeasty (a bit banana like) aroma. Also, light honey, spices and strong alcohol in my nose. In my mouth complex sweetness balanced with some acidity as well as some alcoholic fruitness toward the end. Medium to full body that may appear lighter because of the alcohol content. A bit oily and syrupy texture with lively to fizzy carbonation (small aslmost invisible bubbles). Alcoholic feel toward the final as well as some kind of residual sweetness.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
It smells slightly smoky and nondeScript fruit (plum / prune?). Furthermore, it smells a lot of alcohol. The taste is only slightly sour and then explode in a cascade of flavors that range from nondeScript sweet fruit of the hops, and finally a pleasant warming alcohol.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap at Beerbistro in Toronto. Murky dark amber with a light tan head. Caramel and ripe fruits dominate both aroma and flavour. Nice warming spiciness. Crisp in the mouth. A very nice sipper.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Harvest Market, Bedford NH. Aroma is Belgian yeast, bready malt. Appearance is hazy red orange-brown with good sparkle, two finger head that shrinks but persists and negligible lacing. Taste is similar to nose, yeasty fruity esters. Palate is medium bodied with slightly slick texture and lively carbonation, fairly dry finish as with the taste.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
I remember drinking this beer while drinking the afternoon into evening at a whiskey bar in Quebec City & thinking this was pretty damn fine & unlike anything else I had tried. Of course that was in the mid-90s when we thought Creemore & Sleeman were something special. Fast forward many years -- & many, many beers -- & how does this beer hold up in the hipster beer nerd 2010’s? Fancy dining table wood body with a mushy slab of foam on tap. Lots of sugar on the tongue, a bit of booze in the back & a very prickly carbonation. Has the same tired yeast profile of the other brews on their stable. Somewhat of a classic, but not really my favourite on the menu.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a hazy brown color, topped with a decent off-white frothy head. Aroma is malty with caramel, some yeasty notes and spices. Taste is sweet at the start and quite malty, some yeasty notes and alcohol in the body, but not too bad. Not a bad one, passable and quite strong feel to it.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from bottle. Aroma of fruity citrus. Pours a cloudy dark red. Light to medium sour taste. Medium body, creamy texture, lively carbonation, with an astringent finish. A very good example of the style.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle. 4/7/15 BB date. Appearance: Dark ruby red, mostly clear, with an off white foam head.
Aroma: Underlying bready, toasted malt, dominated by strong, spicy yeast esters of prune, apple, and pear.
Taste: Explosion of fruity esters of prune, figs, and pears. Spicy clove. Bready and toasted malt is there, but take a backseat to the yeast.
Mouthfeel: Medium body with high carbonation and a strong alcohol warmth.
Finish: A sticky maltiness lingers with pear esters.
Overall: Robust, very estery dubbel style. Tons of dark fruit flavor

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle share at Evernote. Overall notes of candied malts, raisins, sorghum, molasses. A bit too cloying and sweet for me.
