COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

The color is the loveliest, most perfect red you can imagine, the color of Satan’s pajamas, and the head is bubbly, prickly, fantastically white. Aroma is largely spicy, utterly delightful, with additional notes of dark fruits, berries, currant, citrus, and a hint of flowers, plus a good helping of lemon. Good carbonation, and a massive deployment of hops upon the palate. The alcoholic component does not seem obvious at all, nay, it sneaks up upon you, as you innocently enjoy this delicious ale. Very smoth and tasty as anything on earth, heaven, or hell. Medium body, sufficient malt, but the hops are fully in charge here, and deliver the drinker into fully refreshing enjoyment. One of the best beers in the whole damned world!

Pours a thin murky brown with a frothy fine white head. Unirboue aroma, malty, fruity, yeasty... fantastic as always. Rich malty flavor, a more vacant mouthful though, some red berries, spices, yeast, dried fruits, quite sweet. Very bubbly stuff, and defintely too sweet. Yummy, but I’ll take a Trois Pistoles instead.

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2005 A dark orange appearance with a moderate head. The aroma is ginger and oranges and some other citrus fruits. A definite spice presence in the flavor but not overkill. I taste alot of apricot in this beer. The aftertaste is a bit sweet and the alcohol is well hidden. Pretty good stuff.

From a bottle poured dark brown with a fair amount of head. Nice strong malty flavor with a lingering sicy finish.

Pours an orangy red. Nice bit of fruit on the nose. Love the heavy carbonation, nice tight bubbles. Very well balanced taste. Certainly gives any belgian beer a run for its money. A truly great canadian beer, you simply cannot go wrong with any beers from this brewery.

Pours a dark amber with a very nice head. Aroma is of fruit and yeast, mostly. Some spice. Taste is of apricot, plum, grape. Overall, a great beer that is both sip-able and sessionable.

Hazy ruby brown, fizzy beige head. Aroma of citrus, yeast, sugar, berries. Taste is sweet with juicy malts and fruit, some hop bitterness on the finish. Mild yeast tartness. Lots of roast malt. Medium body, high carbonation.
