COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

Ap a cloudy copper color w/ a thin soapy head Ar: sweet to the smell hint of maybe apricot and a touch of alcohol Pa: very lightly carbonated mildly creamy a little to thin Fl: apricot and bubblegum fruity yeasty flavor hints of alcohol in the finish.. the flavor improved at the end of the glass a lot and I’m not sure why Ovrl: I was a bit disappointed w/ it at first as I thought it lacked some body and carbonation, but it improved near the end of the glass

Bottle: Cloudy brown with a small beige head. Light Belgian spices in the aroma along with yeast, bananas, and a bready character. Tastes right on par with the aroma. Dry and lingering spices in the finish. Ehh, not overly stimulating.

Orangey-amber-brown in colour. Hints of citrus in the flavour. Beautiful long aftertaste. Can’t wait to have another.

draught. Pours a murky, deep amber with a strong white head. Aroma is quite vinous, spiced with nutmeg, caramom. This is good stuff, a little honey, grapes, slight banana, the finish brings out some cloves. This is pretty soft and juicy for this style.

Orange with huge, long lasting, foamy white head. Scents of roast, smoke, raisin,... quite complex. Taste is similar though more sweet and alcoholic than the nose. Sweet finish. Nice beer.
