COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

0,33 l bottle as a gift.
Murky brown with a huge foamy ofwhite head. Fine belgian yeast character, fruity aroma with raisins, fig and some plum, apricot. Nice spcies like clove, cinnamon, coriander in the nose. Caramel and toasted malt based flavor with fine fruits, apricot and fig, raisins. Well rounded, fruity-sweetish palate with a well balanced alcohol. Coriander-hop aftertaste with a bit of honey. Pleasant ale, fine.

A French girl named Maud got this for me. How cool is that? Anyway... this one tastes and smells like citrus. Other than an annoying head this was a nice Belgian.

Beautiful, mostly murky, caramel brown in color with a frothy, sudsy, 1/3" grey head that leaves nice lacing tracks in its wake. Aroma quickly catches my attention – Unibroue brand Fruity Pebbles, anise, nutmeg, orange peel, lemon zest and brown-sugared fried bananas. Loving it. Flavor leads in with golden raisins, fresh apple cider, cinnamon and chocolate confectionary powder. Invigorating spiciness of cloves and pepper. Some weizenbock properties, along with a copper kettle vibe curtailing the end of each sip. Lively, sparkling and effervescent indeed. Some tongue chafing and dry friction at the sides of the tongue in the finish to go along with a peppered lemon poppy seed aftertaste. Tasty.

Dark brown pour with a chunky long lasting tan head. Lots of yeast and banana in the aroma, along with grain, malt and spices. Sweet flavor with all of the above and some citrusy and caramel notes. High carbonation and medium bodied palate. Dry finish. Very drinkable and delicious!

Part of a 750 ml bottle, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. 20JL11.

App.: Clear deep amber with a large light tan foam. Aroma: Lots of rich, sweet, crunchy, fruity malt, classic Unibroue yeast, light minty herbals, some bright fruits, and some darker dried fruits, earthy, lemony coriander. Palate: Medium+ body, sparse effervescence, slick. Flav.: Much like the nose, plenty of fruit, sweet, inviting malts, yeast, slight minty herbals, earthy, lemony coriander, nice; sweet with limited bitterness and a pleasantly fruity, boozy finish.

Often enjoyed, now rated!
