COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

Bottle. Nose is very musty and reminds me of mildew. Notes of spice, raisin, malt, and cherry come through. Finishes thick.

Nice dark amber color with an off-white, tannish head. Hints of spiced fruit in the aroma and taste. Good feel.

Fruity, yeasty aroma typical to this type of beer. This one is very pleasing. Nice ruby red color, good carbonation. The flavor is fruity, malty, very agreeable. (Note: it is essential that you try this beer at cellar temperature, and not any colder, or the experience will be diminshed). Nice lingering sweet malty taste on the palate. Thin to medium in mouthfeel. Very good beer overall, from a well respected brewer.

Flaske. Dejlig lysebrun øl med et fint skum. Drak årgang 2005 på flasken. Fin øl men mangler dog en smule kompleksitet. Gæren var altdominerende men stadig meget drikbar. Fin men ikke super.

Nice rich coppery red. Min head. Smells of spices and fruit...complex for me. Great intense flavor with a smooth flavor...good value for the bucks!

Amber-brown coloured, small head. Malty, yeasty aroma. Sugary malty flavour, some spices. Soft palate, warming alcohol.

God, someone else said it before me. The aroma smells a little of vomit. That being said, I like this beer. A soda type head, dissipates somewhat quickly. Lively mouthfeel. Sweetish taste with a very mild hop finish. I seemed to like this better than the Pistoles, but the vomit aroma was interesting.

Pours brown with a big froth that is shoirt lived. Slight malt nose. Bright, dry fruit flavors. Ample residual effers in the glass. Well ballanced. Tastes like they’re going for the Belgian Double style. Overall: Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommended.
