COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

(on tap, Map Room in Chicago). Nice orange color with complementary head. Fruity, but no citrus. I’m not a great Belgian fan, but I liked this a lot.

Not as good as the other Unibroue beers, but still worthy. A little too over the top on the yeasty flavors, but all is still well with this drink.

341ml bottle in trappist glass. Pours amber-brown with medium fizzy head. Fruity aroma. Yeast as well. Quite carbonated on the palate. Great mouthfeel. Yeasty aroma. Alcohol is quite discrete for the amount. Quite dry on the finish. A bit fruity also. Tiny bit acidic on the finish. Maybe a tiny bit metallic as well. A bit cherry-ish also. Strong yeast taste that i don’t enjoy with the Trois-Pistole but that i enjoy with this one. Great beer ! Rating #36

Smells like apple juice at first. Pours with a ton of foam, what belgian that’s bottle conditioned doesn’t? Color is dirty water cloudy copper. Aroma is mild/strong malty, and it seems a good hop balance as well with a tinge of sweetness and alcohol. The beer bubbles well. The head is dense, small-bubble foam, and fizzy. The flavor is of sweet, dark fruit, wild yeast, citrus and malt. The finish is a bit rough.

Cracked this baby open at 12:00 am to ring in the new year. Pours dark rich amber with a copious head typical of Belgian ale. Very defined- dark fruits malt and caramel all melding together to create one tastey brew. Reminds me of Leffe Blonde, but of a much higher caliber. Rich and satisfying- Happy New Year.

One of my favorites from these guys so far. A nice citrusy, spicy beer for the summer. Very carbonated. Syrupy and sweet.

750 ml, 341 ml, fût, bière épicé forte, effervesente, peut-être trop ? soyeuse, je l’apprécie plus maintenant qu’à sa sortie il y a 15 ans
