COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

Bubbly. Yeasty nose. Assorted fruits hit the tongue as does cinnamon, spice and some sugary sweetness. Lovely mixture of flavours, not overpoweringly sweet and the alcohol is restrained as well.

Bottle - Poured a ruby colored brew with nice huge head with great retention. Carbonation is good and aroma of malts and hops are well balanced. Taste is a right mix of sweetness and spice. Aftertaste has the usual creamy Unibroue feeling with a subtle bitterness. The ABV is so subtle and to me is one of the great quality of this great beer. Probably one of the best Belgian beer brewed outside of Belgium and one of the best from Unibroue.

Malty sweet w/ dark fruit. hints of soury fermented fruit and big malts. creamy smooth mouthfeel, well-rounded and full bodied. This beer poured a rich brown w/ orange/gold highlights and really good head and lasting lacing.

Unibroue makes the best beers at stronger alcohol levels and this one is no exception. I really enjoyed the balance here and the murky brown appearance. Spicy notes and malt character abounds. Fantastic.

Pours an absolutely beautiful brown color with nice carbonation (poured into a Unibroue sniffer/tulip style glass). Nice contrasting off white head. The aroma of fruits, grains, malts, and spices... absolutely amazing! The taste is even better! The taste is of rich malts, carmel, fruit (plum?), and spices. Wonderful mouthfeel. Excellent, Excellent brew!
