COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

Cloudy Ruby color. Fruity aroma. Smooth fruity taste with a very light texture that makes for a great palate. Everything is balanced into a great tasty ale. Unibroue continues to be reliable.

I got hammered off 3 of these suckers. Amazing! I was enjoying these outside in the park and, all of a sudden, as soon as I finished my third, my fun came to a screeching halt and the sky clouded over and I had to go home where I vomited profusely. An eery experience.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Amber brown with persistant rocky head. Very unusual aroma of gooseberries and rhubarb. Yeast and spice in there, too. Good mouthfeel, flavour sweetish. Finishes soft and spicy. Very good beer.

UPDATED: FEB 1, 2006 Good beer!, it has a refreshing flavor, although it is incredibly strong!. Orange and it has a fruit flavor, but some say it has a wood flavor. I really liked it.

A nice strong Belgian style Brownish in color. Pours well in a snifter. Definite hints of spice and apricots. One of the best beers to come out of Canada in quite some time.

Very very smooth beer with forward caramel taste. Have not had many strong belgian ales, for me easist way to describe is a full bodied ale a tad lighter than a brown ale. Probably my favorite beer from Unibroue. Unlike several other beers from Unibroue, this one is not overly carbonated which is probably why it is so smooth.

This yeast rules. Great mouthfeel, good color, solid beer. The estery yeast profile really makes this a great beer.
