I love this stuff. It’s like a get drunk beer when you’re slightly less of a dirtbag than ghetto dudes who drink OE. Even though I love OE. Anyway...
Yeah there’s a lot of choice between the unibroue and they all tend to remain within the same realm of price, but I enjoy Maudite the most out of all of them. It’s DELICIOUS and INTERESTING without being ABRASIVE which some "good" beer tends to be on principle. You know what I mean? Like a good bear has to have something that’s a bit "TOO" much to be considered good? Horsefeathers! I’ve only tried pouring this out of the bottle once, and it looked like when you try to make your own iced tea out of tea you brew then refrigerate too quickly. It’s all cloudy and translucent, and call me crazy but it seemed to taste better out of the bottle anyway. Keep it in the bottle guys, it works! But I digress. I love this beer. It’s spicy and fruity and delicious. Better still, it’s GREAT beer at a GREAT price. Buy 3! Get drunk! Be classy!

Great yeasty aroma and an awesome mahogany color. Spicy, almost rum-like taste that finishes quickly. It’s a bit of a surprise how refreshing this is.

Great ruby brown color and a nice malty, yeasty, spicy aroma. The flavor was fairly sweet and there was no presence of hops. Impressive Belgian style brew from Quebec, I couldn’t distinguish it from the Belgian Strong Ales I’ve had. Alcohol was well hidden and the flavor was spicey. Head was solid and sustained itself throughout.

750. Pours golden brown with pink highlights in the pour stream. Enormous bubbly white head. Settles to a still rather impressive bubbly white head with some moussy character and plenty of lace. Clearly a very present beer. Big fruit sugary nose; bubblgum and dark fruit and especially raisins. All of these things come through beautifully from the attack to the finish as well. Fizzy but in a very well considered way; this is sippable and also very quenching and satisfying with food. The sweetness here adds complexity, subtlety, and reward, rather than just...sweetness. This beer is amazing.

Pours a copper color with a thin off0-white head. Minimal lacing and the head did not last as long as I had expected (otherwise, this rates even higher). But now for the good part. Fruity aroma, mostly likely of grapes and plums. Very good taste, same fruits, mixed with a spicy flavor, possibly cinnamon. Great finish, as it left a long, pleasant taste and a warming sensation. This is a beer I thinkI can enjoy more in winter than on a summer day. No wonder it’s Canadian. Good work Unibroue!

UPDATED: DEC 3, 2005 [Bottle unknown size, served chilled, fresh, Blind tasting test with Mario D’Eer, dates are unknown] This was a Blind tasting test; I didn’t know what I was drinking. Even though i really know this beer, being from Quebec, i didn’t recognize it at first. Amber color. Very small bubbles, nice head. Sweet Nuts aroma… BANG! There was an insurrection in my mouth! From now on, I knew what I was drinking! It can only be the Maudite. Powerful taste of alcohol blended with spices, nuts, yeast/bread, caramelized sugar. The more the beer temperature rise, the more complex the taste. A must from Unibroue aside with La Fin duMonde and, Trois-Pistoles. I WANT MORE!!!

Even though the aroma and appearance of the beer may not be up to par with other beers of its kind, Maudite excels in the taste catagory. It also has a kick to it, which sets in after the first or second beer, depending on how you can handle your beers or not. Definately one you should try!

Pours an opaque brown with a big fluffy head and a yeasty aroma. Has a malty, chocolatey flavour mixed with that banana-ey yeast Weissbier flavour. Rounds off with a big warm alcohol kick. Love it!
