COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

Has a cloudy amber color and a spicy smell, reminds me of a wheat beer. Taste is also like a wheat with full thick spicy flavor and finishes very smooth. Overall a very good beer that I could enjoy over and over again.

Poured cloudy orange with a white head. Heavy yeast in the aroma. The flavor is sweet and breadlike. A touch of spices, fruit, apricot, lemon, and apple are discernable in the thick bread taste.

Regular bottle in a Trappist Glass. Good head, long lasting. Some lacing left at the end. Very appealing amber colour very cloudy near opaque. Sweet alcohol and spicy flavor goes down too well. Alcohol and spices spike in the aftertast. Still one of my favourites.

Sweet and dirty. Loved the punished malt flavor that sort of survived despite the yeasty undertones. As she heated... she changed, oh so slowly and nasty... had to finish her fast so she did not end up like a bad marriage.

I haven’t yet a beer that goes better with steak and I have a ton of this stuff in my cellar. Great with some age on it. Page 470 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide and only 223 of his 500 Classic Brews to go.

Sort of like a thicker, maltier, more full belgian ale ala Blue Moon. The high alcohol content makes it much sweeter though, with evident fruit flavor and aroma. Good pour, holds its head.

another winning beer from Unibroue. this is highly carbonated but its unusal taste and alcohol keep it from being an all night choice but if you’re looking for a couple of delicious beers this one is worth finding. So many delicious beers to little time....

An interesting orange and red color, creamy white head with a slow vocanic eruption of bubble and new foam forming in the middle of the glass, this must be how hawaii formed. Fruity plum bannana and pear aroma and an absence of hops. Rock candy and raisin flavor. A full malt flavor takes away the big alcohol sting associated with dubbels and trippels. A small mix of hops keeps this gem from being too sweet. Like many Belgiums, the palate is complex and full. Another top tier beer from Unibroue.
