COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

UPDATED: JUL 4, 2003 Gorgeous orange/red/brown color. Immense amounts of tiny bubbles and a slight haze make it nearly opaque. Not surprisingly, the head is a perfect half-inch and is fluffy and beautiful with staying power and sheets of lace akin to a nitro-can brew. Sourdough and yeast in the aroma with a hint of banana. Some spice up front. Creamy mouthfeel is complemented by the fine carbonation. Sweetly malty with some apple tartness. Has a definite wheat character. Yeast is a also apparent. Hops come alive as the beer warms, adding a pleasant bitterness and some citrus flavors as well. Somewhat short but clean finish. I enjoyed this down to the final remaining drop in my chalice.

I liked this one much better on tap than from a bottle, but it's still a very drinkable ale. Great aroma, sweet & malty body, acidic finish.

UPDATED: APR 20, 2005 a very yeasty and fruity aroma, some hints of nuts. Taste was very smooth, yeasty and fruity. Some hints of citrus, banana and apples (??) and a slighty sour finish. A very complex brew and an excellent beer!

Caramel fruit and sugar sweet aroma. Hazy burnt orange colour with thick white head that recedes to a film. Sweet round full flavour with dark fruits and caramel maltiness. Alcohol makes a brief appearance but is hidden wonderfully in the huge palate of this wonderful beer. Residual and lasting sweetness. Bottle.

Light, hazy orange color on bottom which fades to dark brown on top, covered with a thick medium off-white head. Smells of straw, walnuts, tea, and slighty of green apple. Initially tastes like sweet thick syrup with corn and a slight cherry flavor. Intense alcohol taste, but not strong or overpowering.

Dig this brew... Gloriously malty taste with just a hint of raisin flavor present. A bit fizzy at first with a very smooth, sweet aftertaste. I give this beer 2 yumms up!!

A bit fruity with loads of malty character. One of the better high alcohol ales I’ve had the pleasure of drinking.

UPDATED: MAR 24, 2008 I’m new to the whole describing exactly what flavors are in the beer so bare withe me in this. The reason that I bought this beer was because of the cool picture that was on the label. It has a light flavor not to be confused with little flavor. It leaves a slick feeling to your mouth but not a bad feeling to it. Slight sweet scent, slightly bitter, nice after taste, nice carbonation that plays with the palate. I like this beer also has a slight spice taste to it.
