COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

Nice rich coppery red. Min head. Smells of spices and fruit...complex for me. Great intense flavor with a smooth flavor...good value for the bucks!

What’s Interesting about the Uinibroues is that the color of the label represents the flavor. Maudite tastes very "red" as Troid Pistoles tastes very "purple." It’s good for getting a buzz on, and if you want to drink beer with the devil on it. That’s gotta stand for something.

750ml bottle. drank out of snifter. aroma is of intense malts and spices, banana and clove. a bit of cognac in there too. pours an orangy brown with a frothy off white head and leaves some nice lacing. flavour is sweet, but not too sweet. an assertive hop finish makes this wonderful beer from unibroue nicely balanced.

Poured from bottle in Whitehorse, YT. Deep copper colour with a sizeable, off-white head. Aroma of berries and cough syrup with some malt. Lots of malt throughout without being overbearing. Creamy, medium body and a lovely, smooth finish that was not abrupt or bitter. Lots going on in this brew. It is very special. Pity it took me so long to try it. Don’t wait as long as I did.

pour cloudy with good head and a nice caramel brown colour. its huge on the esters with clove and cinnamon and a hint of caramel and banana bread.very expressive. on the palate those ester notes come through again leaving and big belgian beer expression of spices and sweet malts, toffee and bunch of other goodies. great sutff. truly an expressive brew that is of a new world in origin but using an old world recipe.

Bottle in a pint glass - hazy red orange in color with plenty of tan head leaving significant lacing. Nose is yeast. Aroma is a leafy yeast with unique malts and of course alcohol. Full bodied and leaves a long finish along with a slightly metallic aftertaste. Taste is sweet. A wonderful beer to enjoy over and over.

beautiful cloudy mahogany color pours with lively foamy head, not substantial on the lacing, yeasty bready doughy aroma complemented with clove, honey and nutmeg, highly carbonated, medium body, long sweet finish, best enjoyed cool not cold, great effort from Unibroue, extra overall point for having Satan on the label!

Incredibly smooth. Citrusy head with lots of carmel notes. Smooth from first to last drop. Great carbonation level, sweet taste with a tang of hops and good amount of yeast. slightly sour aftertaste, but in a very appealing way. Delicious.
