COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

Cloudy appearance, seemed quite bubbly, yet easy on the palate.

Mario D’Eer considers it as a Weizenbock and I can understand it - amber-brown colour, fine head, complex spicy, yeasty aroma and flavour, nutmeg, sweet, alcohol, honeyish and bitter, long aftertaste - a beautiful beer

Medium golden color with tinges of red - slightly cloudy with flecks of yeast. Aroma of citrus, yeast, and light blueberries or rasperries. Creamy body with flavors of sweet caramel, yeast, orange zest, and some spices. Slightly tart finish. Very well balanced and terrific.

As close as, or equal to the best Belgian strong ales brewed in North America!

Ruby brown appearance with a white bubbly head. Smelled of coriander. The taste was of coriander and lemon which also included fruits. My favorite of the Unibroues I've had.

Rusty gold in color with a nice bite from the 8%abv. Smooth, though and flavorful. Gorgeous bottle, a must have for any label collector. Excellent beer overall.

UPDATED: OCT 30, 2011 .Mahogany colour. Pronounced aroma, almost sour, of figs, malt and alcohol. Complex flavour, malt, hops, alcohol, figs, and raisins. Lasting finish of fruit and hops.

Probably my favourite Unibroue beer (along with trois-pistoles). A nice colour and a nice head. The aroma is yeasty, fruity and spicy. A good texture and a taste of yeast, malt and spices.
