COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

This beer has a captivating bright red color with copper highlights and an off-white head. The head dissipates quickly, but lingers the entire glass and leaves a nice lace. The aroma is sweet and rather like a fine merlot. The taste is exquisite, without a trace of alcohol. Maltiness is evident, and a fruity sweetness is present in the finish. I can mainly taste ripe plum, but I am reminded of a good sweet red wine. The best (or perhaps worst) characteristic is it is a pleasure to drink.

Excellent brew. Very taste either from bottle or tap. So much flavor, great feeling. Nice murky brownish red color. Good sweetish malty taste with very well hidden alcohol. Must try!!! Excellent beer!!!

This is one of my standbys. It's got a great fruit scent. the taste is a little spicy with a fuity flavor. pretty high alcohol percentage, something I always have to make myself remember when drinking this ale.

Une exellante bière forte avec une bonne mélange de saveur d’épice et de caramel. Pour dégustation seulement.

Bottle 355ml. Heavenly. Aromas of bread, dough, caramel, and alcohol. Taste starts sweet, and has a sour touch with lingering bitterness. Palate is sticky and full bodied, with a long finish. Amber, with a thin frothy head.

This beer seems to combine a few of my favorite things: the wheatyness of a hefeweizen and the body and color of an ale. The head pours out nice and creamy, with an explosion of tropical fruits and nut smells. The body is medium-bubbly, reddish, and delightfully refreshing. Don’t forget about swirling that dose of vitamin B out of the bottom!

Tasted from large bottle into tulip glass. Poured a beautiful, hazy deep copper color with fluffy off-white head, somewhat persistent, some lace. Aromas of sweet bread, apricot, some distant earthy hops, pepper, clove, and alcohol. Rich malt sweetness with complimentary hops bitterness, complex flavors: whole-wheat bread, toast, biscuits, roasted nuts, honey, caramelized brown sugar, a little molasses and stone fruit. Light-medium body with mellow mouthfeel. Lasting, unique bittersweet aftertaste which finishes dry. Pleasant warmth, but you’d never know this was 8% alcohol by volume. Awesome bottle fermentation effervescence. Refreshing, drinkable and delicious. This is about as perfect a beer I’ve ever had.

Pours opaque dark brown with some tan fizz for a head. Smells incredibly malted with some actual sweetness. Tastes smooth and sweet but mellow, very pleasant. Full-bodied with a smooth texture and more than average mouth-carbonation, Maudite finishes with some lingering sweetness.
