COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

Aroma is rich, malty and spicy with a hint of yeast, quite inviting. It pours a clear dark amber, almost mahogany, with a thick pale orangy head. Rich flavor is malty, yeasty, spicy and slightly hoppy. Texture is fairly smooth, lively and fizzy, quite satisfying.

This is my new favorite. Cloudy deep amber. Dark fruity aroma. Very complex spicy fruit flavors. Some flavors I can’t place, but it’s good. Delicious beer.

UPDATED: NOV 28, 2005 Pours a beautiful mahogany into the glass. Beautiful head. Malty and spicy aromatic nose with hints of carmelized sugar. Spicy taste with hints of coriander, nuts, bread and malty sweetness. Nice alcohol flavor in the finish. "The Damned One" delivers!!

The Damned(Maudite) is a wonderful strong belgian ale with notes of coriander and citrus. I’d like to salute those who sold their souls to bring this beer to market.

Tap. Pours a beautiful golden red orange color. The aroma comes off with a strong sense of Belgian-style sweetness with a grace of citrus accent. The taste is complex with hints of spice, orange, and more citrus tossed around in the mix. The palate definitely hits a malty and almost licorice flavor. Mauidite hides its alcohol very well. Maudite is great in the bottle, but amazing on tap!

Clowdy brown oranged color. Head of big bubbles. Muddy. It doesn’t show through. Very little bubbles that describe rects drom the bottom. Persistent foam layer. Fresh and sweet aroma. Very fruity, spiced with coriander and curazao. Very well disguised alcohol. Pleasing complex taste, sweet and bitter. A little salt final. Creamy texture. Excelent body. The taste and aroma get even better when temperature increases.
